Birthplace and home to Hadji Dimitar the leading revolutionary against the Ottoman rule during the 19th century in the struggles for an independent Bulgaria. He was born in this two story house and grew up here in Silven. Besides the architecture the house has some period furnishings and a museum to Hadji Dimitar's life. There are photos and story boards (some are in English as well as Bulgarian) in a couple of the upstairs rooms.

Hadji Dimitar is legendary Bulgarian voivoda (leader) - fighter for the Liberation of Bulgaria from the Ottomans. He was born May 1840 in the Sliven neighborhood “Kloutsohor”. In 1935 his native-home was turned into museum. The house is small,one-storyed , unsymmetrical building with a wooden veranda with the characteristic, construction and architecture, typical of the early Revival period. In museum is shown a large Exposition about the leaders Hadji Dimitar and Stephan Karadja. There are interesting samples of photographs and documents.

This is the birthplace of Hadzhi Dimitar - the most prominent bulgarian voivode and revolutionary working against the Ottoman rule. Although the house looks rather small from our perspective, his father was a merchant, which means their family was rich and probably their home was one of the biggest in town. The building is a piece of Bulgarian Revival architecture and it's a great example of this period. You can learn a lot about his life and work, but also about the cause of those brave and heroic bulgarian men and women, who sacrificed their lives for the liberation ot Bulgaria.
