Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The Prachov Rocks (Prachovské Skàly in Czech) is a DON'T MISS scenic attraction in the Bohemian Paradise, about an hour and 20 minute drive from Prague. Parking is 100 CZK, and admission ranges from 50 CZK for students to 120 CZK for adults. This natural area has spectacular views of tall weather-worn sandstone column hoo doo- like formations - much like Bryce Canyon in Utah, but in a completely different setting.
Hiking paths are maintained and well marked. We hiked for about 2 hours in light rain with umbrellas, ( a lifetime first for us) but fortunately we could still see the beautiful views and formations. There are several long-range viewing platforms. You could easily spend a long afternoon hiking and taking pictures here. Hiking boots will make for a better experience here, especially during or after rain. There is an on-site restaurant, gift shop, and restrooms (for 10 CZK per person). It is about a 12-minute drive to Jicin, where we enjoyed lunch at the La Favorita Restaurant at the Hotel Jicin. We combined the Prachov Rocks hike with a trip to the Trosky Castle ruins ( 20 minute drive from Jicin ), and a trip to the Bastei Bridge just over the German border ( 2 hour 15 minute drive from Jicin ) for sightseeing and dinner. The Prachov Rocks is likely the most impressive scenic natural area in Czechia !!

The Prachov Rocks are a rock formation in the Czech Republic. Since 1933, they have been a protected natural reserve and the region where the formations are located is called Bohemian Paradise.
The formations are made of sandstone, originally in the form of a plateau. Since its formation over 60 million years ago, the rock has been eroded by wind and rain into the unique forms found at the site. Several of the individual rock towers have inspired names due to their appearance, such as the Leaning Tower, Devil's Kitchen, the Monk, the Elephant, and the Eagle.

Upon arrival there is an area where you can park your car, which is near the entrance and restaurant. From here you can choose different walking routes, all different lenghts to see the rock formation and to take in some stunning views.

The highlight of a few days walking in the area. Absolutley amazing views and experience. Worth getting up early to arrive before the many coach parties. We did all 3 routes but the green route with some hard climbs and slightly hair raising climbing is the best one to do. We're two fit 60 year olds and were probably the oldest people there. Don't be afraid to attempt the climbing bits though....they are worth it.

If you are tired of city sightseeing, take a trip from Prague to Jičín and a few kilometers before you turn left. You will get to nature reserve Prachov Rocks. There is a payed entrance. Save your ticket as you will get a discount on access to other partner attractions in the Czech Republic, such as the Kingdom of railways or Mirakulum. As you enter, you can choose some paths, which you will lead thru the rocks. The difference is in time you need to go thru. Right by the parking is a restaurant a gift shop. Better you will get some drinks to the rocks, because when you choose the longest path it will takes about 3 hours (with 6 yers old child) and you will get thirsty. For this trip is bettr to use good trekking shoes, backpack and outdoor clothes. Walking along the green trail is a bit more physically demanding, but the reward is beautiful views of the rocks and the countryside. However, even the child can handle it. This is a place that every nature lover must see and experience.

First piece of advice - don’t stop at the first paid parking you see, keep going all the way down. If it’s full they will turn you around then go park at the further lot. We arrived at 0845 on a Sunday and were 2 of only a handful of people. We enjoyed most of our hike alone, which is why getting there early worked well. We did the 3.5km hike in about 1 hour 15 min. It would be 2 if you split off to the red or walked slower. The hike was beautiful, trail was easily marked, and it’s a well kept area. When we left around 1030 the lot was full and a few busses had already arrived.

jak jsem si myslel, že jsem viděl už dost z hrubé skály tak jsem se spletl. určitě stojí za navštívění a dát si zelený naučný okruh. Nenechte se odradit vstupným. Za něco se to určitě udržovat musí. Pěkné vyhlídky a krásně značeno - spousta cest.
I se psem se dalo absolvovat.

nice location where you should definetly go.
Beatiful nature. Small fee entrance but nothing so much.
Visited with small dauther and dog. Sometimes a little bit more competitive but worthy.

Excellent half day hike - rock climbing fun for the whole family. Well-sign posted routes - depending on your hiking stamina you can choose between the 3,5km green loop or the 1,5km yellow loop, or do both as neither of them is very strenuous. Our 5, 7 and two 67 year old ones managed it just fine.
There are two entrances - I would recommend to park your car in the second parking by the Chata (chalet) Prachov, this gets you closer to the rocks. From the first parking (closer to the village Prachov) you need to walk about 1 km before reaching the “rock action”. Parking can get very busy, so it is better to arrive early in the morning to avoid the crowds.
You have to bring snacks and water as no refreshments sold within the park. Also beware there are no toilets. Chata (chalet) Prachov by the entrance offers decent Czech food and local beers- self service style.

We visoted with 6 kids ranging in age from 1 to 12. They all loved the views, the hike, the unique photo opps. Despite the rain during our visit, the walk was so beautiful and kept all group members engaged to tje very end. We took the green path.
