Located next to the petrol pump in Kielder, this is a treasure trove of the wood turners art. Ralf, who owns and operates the place is one of the friendliest people and will happily demonstrate his skill on a hand lathe. He’s enthusiastic about his craft and wants to share his knowledge. We only popped in to buy something to remind us of a great trip, but we were treated to a demonstration of his craft as well. There are some beautiful bowls, spoons etc., in his shop and the prices are very reasonable for hand crafted products. He does accept credit cards, but it may take some time for the technology to work, it is in the back of beyond after all.

Ralf is a truly unique and fantastic individual who is a real master at his craft. He takes time to discuss his craft and is very generous with his knowledge. The bowls, plates and other wooden objects he makes are unique and to us priceless but to Ralf are very reasonable for the work and skill he puts into them. We have purchased several already and no doubt will be back for more. We never get anything but joy by visiting his workshop and never come away disappointed. For the pieces that he makes I believe the character of the maker shows in them and they are warm, friendly and unique. It has been a real pleasure to find Ralf in the wonderland that is Kielder and have went back just to buy more pieces from him.

I loved the day with Raplh! I learned how to turn a bowl and much more. I learned how to be in 'Flow' moment by moment. I was in tune with the wood, the tool and the excellent guidance from Ralph . Ralph is there to guide and support, and also knows when to leave to to make it by yourself. Nothing can go wrong! It is a great feeling. I enjoyed doing it together with my friend! And the lunch was divine! I highly recommend the day. Great value for money.

Ralf is very passionate about turning and carving, being a joiner myself it was great to meet someone who cares about the long lost art of using a pole lathe. I 100% reccomend anyone goes to see Ralf and you will also take away with you your wonderful creation that you could possibly use as a gift for a loved one, things you make always means more. Have fun and enjoy life 😊

How lovely to have had you here for the day and you braving a first outing after look-down. I enjoyed passing on the skill to you two and hope your bowls are being used daily. Thank you again.
