Newly opened in 2018 and not quite completely finished in it’s renovations, this beautiful Renaissance castle is definitely worthwhile a visit. All the rooms are furnished with artifacts of the epoche and very well presented. Lots of activities in the summer with medieval fairs, workshops...More

Château de Lanquais is now under new management and is very professionally presented. Upon entering you receive a laminated guide in the language of your choice (we understand an audio guide will be available this summer) describing each of the rooms you visit. Those rooms...More

Chateau de Lanquais gets a star in Michelin Vert, so we drove up for a look. Its most striking aspect is external, both from the rear, where cars are parked and where the juxtaposition between the medieval fortress and renaissance chateau is most marked, and...More

We approached from the village up a wooded lane for an unplanned late morning first visit with no idea what to expect, Suddenly through the trees was the surprisingly grand chateau facade, with closed iron gates to the side. It opened at 2pm! But the...More

Nice, interesting castle to visit. I was staying in the area and this chateau was easy to find and had a nice town near it where we had lunch.

It's a little expensive to get in to but well worth a visit if you're into the local history and architecture. Personally I would combine it with an excellent lunch at Le Marronierres in the village of Lanquais.

Well worth a visit any time because of its location just a couple of minutes up a sleepy side valley off the main Dordogne river. I like the fact that it is slightly under maintained which gives it a more authentic feel. The night tours...More

We thought this was a beautiful place, with very good free guide notes supplied which explained each room in detail. There is also a swimming lake in lanquais which you could combine with your trip. It's basically a nice, genuine building and experience that hasn't...More

This is certainly not Chambord or Duras and is best visited if you have exhausted other options. The chateau and surroundings are very rundown, there is little interior decorations (ceilings and walls) and the room contents are not impressive. However, interesting to see the different...More
