There are 2 waterfalls a small one upstream that's feeds the tall and huge one downstream. Both are work visiting. Visit only in monsoon. No point in visiting in any other season.
Very few visitors. Need to climb a lot of steps.

There are people in Pune who frequently visit Mahabaleshwar over the weekend. Mahabaleshwar is a popularly known attraction for people outside Maharashtra as well. But a lot of people don't know about this amazing place.

How to Reach: On the way to Mahabaleshwar from Panchagani, it comes on the left hand side of the road. One has to be very careful to spot the small board about the waterfall. From the board one has to take left turn on a narrow road. Drive for around 5-8 minutes and you will reach to the entrance.

Entry Fee: Right now forest department has took over this place and they charge a nominal amount. Rs 5 or 10 per person.

Attraction: Its almost within a semi dense forest. couple of years back it doesn't even have conditioned path, but now they made proper staircase to decent down to the waterfall. Somehow I liked the less developed park more than how it is now. From the gate one has to descent down for 5 to 10 minutes and will reach at a point from where there will be two paths. the right hand side will take you to the lower deck for the view of the waterfall. In that point, you were no way near the water and there is no way one can get into water. The left side of the road will take you to the upper deck, when you can see a smaller fall and enough space to get into the water. People enjoy the upper deck more, especially those who enjoy getting wet in rain and waterfall.
Apart from the main attraction, I have spotted giant squirrel here as well. Even a white giant squirrel (named malabar albino). So nature lover would love this place to spot the giant squirrel as well.

Best time to visit: Except the peak of summer, you can visit any time. Best time would always be monsoon. In summer you will hardly see any water in it.

Overall I feel its an amazing place to visit. Whenever I go to Mahabaleshwar, I dont miss this waterfall.

Lingamala waterfall is a nice place. We visited in November, although there was less water at this time, but still you can enjoy there with family. If you are going to Mahabaleshwar from Panchghani, there is a small road going to this fall before Veena lake, the same narrow road will connect you to the Satara road. We were staying at SVInns Dwarkadhish resort and this fall is very near to that resort.

If you are a city dweller like me and constantly seek solace in greenery, yet don't have much time or resources to head to a far flung place, then you should probably visit Mahabaleshwar and Panchgani.A hill station, nestled in the lap of the Sahyadri Range,Western Ghats,in the state of Maharashtra,India,Mahabaleshwar offers just the right amount of relaxation,a city dwelling soul needs.

Of the prominent places,we narrowed down on Lingmala falls, simply because it's a less frequented place and also promises breath taking view.

How to reach there :- If you are heading from Mumbai or Pune, after crossing Wai on NH-4,first you will come across Panchgani. Stick to the Panchgani-Mahabaleshwar road.At an approximately 15 Kms from Panchgani market (you will cross Parsi Point,a famous tourist spot in Panchgani,Mapro Gardens and innumerable Mapro and Mala's retails stores),you will get JP cottage.Take a left turn from there, follow the road and will reach Lingmala falls.

There is ample parking space at the entry point.Buy the entry tickets(Rs.10/per head). On entering, the flight of stairs will guide you down till the road bifurcates into two.The left one leads to the smaller waterfall (Approx. 400 mtrs.) and the right one to the bigger waterfall(Approx. 1 Km.).The gurgling sound of the waterfall makes the anticipation all the more enjoyable.

The way upto the big waterfall is covered with green foliage and wild flowers and is pretty enjoyable, if you are a nature lover. The big waterfall is an absolute treat for the eyes. You can actually see the river as it meanders and makes it's way through the valley.

Tip- Go in the monsoon,as the waterfall looks lovely in its full force, when it occasionally comes out from behind the shroud of mist.

This waterfall site actually has 2 waterfalls, 100m n 400m. The place gives u typical forest vibes. The 100m waterfall is actually near after around 25 steps down the hill however the 400m waterfall is pretty far (they have a few benches down the path for taking breaks) but the view of full Mahabaleshwar city is totally worth it! However the entry closes at 05:00pm because the sun sets early here.

This is a scenic place having a great waterfalls. This waterfalls should be visited one month after monsoon has started as it is best viewed when it is in full flow. Need to pay a entrance fee and have to walk a bit.

This is a small and beautiful waterfall where you can go inside and take a dip. You have to be cautious and do not go close to the fall.
There are 2 ways to reach this fall and route via Kaas - Mahabaleshwar road is better. The stones and gravel under the water are very sharp and the water is very cold.
The fun part is that the water is shallow here and even kids can have fun. Be prepared before you go to this fall as you will not be able to resist yourself from going inside and getting wet.
