Visited this castle before the ice caves. Beautiful castle and totally worth the stop. Plus, we were lucky enough to see a falconry demonstration! It was only narrated in German, but other than that the whole experience was great. If you're in the area definitely check it out.

I booked this excursion for my husband's birthday gift. He was absolutely thrilled! The castle is beautiful and a wonderful mix of ancient and modern (who would have thought there would be art installations?). They also have an extensive weaponry collection and raptor museum. The main highlight though is the raptor show. 2 bird handlers in medieval costumes put on... More

In the afternoon we went to hohenwerfen, after visiting the ice caves. It takes about 20 minutes to get from the caves to the castle. Audio guides are available in multiple languages, and a special audio guide is available for the kids. They have never been this attentive before while listening to an audio guide, they just loved it! The... More

Not so big castle, but you can spend all day in there. You must see the "hawk show", it is a very good and impressive show...it was twice a day (11.15 and 15.15), but it was worth waitimg for

Great opportunity to go back a couple of hundred years and imagine life in a castle. Incredible views of the surrounding territory even on a rainy day. Good family experience. Nice exhibition of falconry/eagles. It's easy to idealize such a life, but you can also think about climbing this hill on foot as you ride the funicular. Think about how... More

The castle is amazing. We would definitely recommend taking the trail up or down and riding the funicular for the other leg. The view from the hiking trail is fantastic and it is not a hard walk either way. The raptor show is absolutely fantastic and should not be missed. It only happens twice a day (late morning and mid-afternoon),... More

Burg or castle is placed above city of Werfen. It's easy to get there with car (there's a big parking lot) and there is a lift that will get you to the castle or by foot, wich is a nice walk through the woods, approx. 20 min. In the castle, we got guided tour around it and it was educational... More

We used our sport welt cards and got €2 discount off each adult ticket. We paid for entry including return journey in the lift. This isn't a place where you can walk round by yourself you have to go as part of a tour with a guide. The museums are available to visit at your own leisure. If you are... More

We took the cable car although you can walk up to it. There are fantastic views of the surrounding area. The highlight of the day is the Falconry Display. Stand near the falconer for good views of the birds. This takes place twice a day. We saw the afternoon display. In the castle courtyard there are a variety of things... More

Visit the castle where they filmed the film 'Where Eagles Dare'. Get to it via a very nice uphill walk through the tree covered slopes or via cable car. Once inside lots to see and do: spectacular Falconry display with birds of prey; sword fighting display: a number of really cool things for the kids including pretending to be a... More
