Viewpoint: Fuji-Kawaguchiko Lake & Mt. Fuji

Attracting visitors with its breathtaking views of Mount Fuji and its reflection in the peaceful lake, it is situated at the foot of Mount Fuji on the northern shore of Lake Kawaguchi. The Kawaguchiko Sightseeing Bus Red-Line departs from Kawaguchiko Station Platform 1 and stops at stop 22, which is the final destination for the Kawaguchiko Natural Living Center and Oishi Park. Taking a bus costs 480 yen and takes approximately 27-30 minutes. Thick cloud and no flower
We visited this place in day trip Tokyo - Mt. Fuji and became last stop before back to Tokyo. Actually we can see Mt. Fuji sunset here. Unfortunately the clouds were very thick that afternoon so we couldn’t see the mountain clearly. The flowers weren't blooming at that time so the garden view was ordinary. Maybe it will be more beautiful if you visit this place in spring.

    Oishi Park
Here I found a great place to see Mount Fuji. Blessed by sunny weather I witnessed such an amazing view. This was a crowded popular place. However it does have amenities. A cafe, a place selling icecream and a W.C. A place to call at to take a quick photograph.

Some of the best views of Mt. Fuji you can get!
The small Oishi Park offers fantastic views of Mt. Fuji, with flowers or grasses in the foreground and looking out over Lake Kawaguchi toward the mountain. It was a bit crowded when we visited, but not irritatingly so. If the sky is clear, you can get some great shots of the mountain from this small park.

It was our second day in Central Japan and was our very first attraction we visited outside Tokyo. Oishi Park is located at the northern shore of Lake Kawaguchi. The lake is the most visited lake among the five lakes at the base of Mount Fuji. As our coach bus approached Lake Kawaguchi, my horizon suddenly opened up to a picturesque, mesmerising view of a relaxed lakeside town. From the bus, my eyes were captivated by the wide span of calm lake water which sparkled under the morning sun and the breezy pristine natural landscape made me wonder if I am in my dreamland.

As the bus moved into the car park of the Flower Street, I could see the breathtaking view of shrubs of flowers beautifully set up along the coast of the Lake. It was so picturesque and awesome. But the cloudy weather was disappointing as the view of Mt Fuji was blocked by the clouds. Nevertheless, wandering along the 350 m long Flower Street was a relaxing enjoyment. Every flower along the street lined up as if waiting for your arrival to relate a story of their loneliness to you. The cold breeze caressed my face as I slowly strolled my way down the street and the colorful scenery let my fleeting mind suddenly retreat into a meditative mood drowned in this photogenic attraction.

We were here for about half an hour but I found my anxiety and cortisol level totally dropped to an unusual low and the body fully relaxed and absorbed by the picturesque setting even when Mt Fuji shy away from our camera lens.

We took the red bus to the last stop using our suica card. We had a wonderful surprise that our intended lunch place Mizuno Kaze ( soba and tempura) is just next to the bus stop. One can take a reservation number at the machine at the entrance.
After lunch we crossed the road to reach Oishi Park. We bought very tasty organic strawberries from a stall just across the road. Oishi Park is lovely because numerous flowering plants are grown there. We were surprised to see the blue Nemophila. We could not see Mt Fuji that day as it was cloudy but it also meant our walk along Lake Kawaguchiko to admire the blooming cherry blossom was very pleasant. There is a big board with the names of all the different flowers which is most useful.
We continued exploring Lake Kawaguchiko by taking the bus to stop number 17.

The park itself is a bit strange, looking something like a plant nursery, more than a park. The real selling points are the fantastic views of Mt Fuji and the cafe - with ice cream.

The nature at Oishi Park is amazing. Very clean and fresh! Even though Oishi Park is a popular tourist attraction, we do not feel overwhelmed by crowds. Extremely worth visiting.

Great views of Fujisan from all around the park including the upstairs cafe, especially on a clear day. Some nice gardens with many different plants. Definitely worth the visit.
