I love Japanese Onsen and wanted for my boys (age 7-10) to try. It was part of the day trip after we visited Mount Fuji 5th station in the morning. We had a sukiyaki lunch, with bowls of rice delivered by a miniature steam locomotive. After the lunch, we explored the onsen for about an hour.
There was allocated locker for me to put my belongings, and I was offered a big plus a small towel. The onsen consisted of two floors; first floor was the public bath and indoor and outdoor onsen while lower floor - cave, aromatherapy, steam room and natural outdoor. After my bath, I had time to explore both floors.
I loved the outdoor onsen facing Mt Fuji. You don't get this view if you book the private room. My kids enjoyed too with their dad, despite their dad joked that he didn't have much zen time.

We took the Blue Line of the Kawaguchiko sightseeing bus, which dropped us off at a parking lot a few hundred meters to the place. We got lost at first since our pocket wifi signal in the area had become spotty. But it was actually quite near the drop off point.
The place featured gender separated baths but you can rent a private room for 50 minutes for a fee. After your bath, you can either have a massage or take a rest in their free lounge area. There was also an on-site restaurant although the menu was limited according to the hours. When you leave, you can drop by the souvenir shop for various Mt. Fuji shaped items.
We found it to be a relaxing onsen experience with a good view of Mt. Fuji.

Went there with my boyfriend and took a package including 50 min in a private bath and access to the public areas. 3900 yen for 2 persons.
Beautiful place with several different types of baths and saunas.
We had a view of Fuji-San from the private room but not from the other baths.

I went to this spa with my friend from Tokyo... We planned to just stay for a couple of hours but ended up spending the whole day there. Stunning view of mount Fuji whilst you soak in the hot bath..indoor or outdoor...it's your choice. We went there by express bus from Tokyo to Kawaguchico station... then there is a free shuttle bus to pick you up from the bus station to the spa. Although it is free, reservation is required for the shuttle bus to and from the spa. The place is very serene and tranquil and very good for relaxing. entrance is very reasonable for 1300yen during weekdays and 1500yen on weekends. Highly recommended.
Side-note:
Travelling as a pre-op transgender can be tricky at times...especially when in a gender-segragrated ammenities like this. I was confused and I am sure the staff were confused too. So in the end I went to the male bath area just because I feel more comfortable there... and I arrived early so there was hardly anyone at the spa.

We climbed Mount Fuji overnight starting at 22:30 and taking the Yoshida trail to see the sun rise from the summit. Unfortunately the cloud was so low that even though we arrived at the top by sunrise at 05:00 we saw no sun.. just the darkness lift and the world become bright. After an hour or so at the summit the descent took almost 4 hours, so just short of 12 hours in total. After the climb we went to the fantastic Fuji Chobonoyu Yurari onsen to get clean and relax in the many different baths. It was an utterly brilliant experience and helped to soak away the aches and pains from the trek. I would thoroughly recommend this onsen.

This was my first experience with an Onsen. What can I say other than it was amazing. The views of Mt. Fuji were amazing. After washing you come to an indoor pool. Quiet and still. They play a soothing new-age kind of music throughout the facility that sets a relaxation tone. That first pool is quite warm, so it didn't take long until I was looking for something outdoors. There's a small pool (even hotter) outside that first pool on a deck. The view isn't as open there, so I went downstairs to the large outside pool. This has rocks of various heights so you can sit at any depth. It also has an area with jets. I thought I'd found the best place and decided to stay.
However, a while later I thought I should explore further to make sure I wasn't missing something. While I could have been happy the whole afternoon there, I'm glad I explored a bit.
The next pool I found was inside again, with a large window, and the water lightly carbonated. Much like a sensory deprivation tank, the water was soft and buoying. I felt like I'd died and gone to heaven. Not as hot as others, I could have stayed there the rest of the day. Curiosity got the best of me, however.
I had noticed a couple small doors with intriguing signs I had to explore. The first was the "Steam Bath". Bending over to walk through the low door, I found a sizable domed room inside filled with a dense, very hot steam and benches around the walls. So nice for the sinuses and lungs, it seemed like the best bath yet.
Finally, there was another small door leading into another domed room. This one was a bit theme-park-ish called the Cavern Bath. This was a pool, with bubbles coming up out of the floor, lava rock stacked around the walls with nooks between the piles for you to sit. Added to this were colored lights that rotated through various colors and sconces on the walls for light. The bubbles seemed to target legs as I sat back in various of the nooks.
There was one bath I didn't try called the Flavor Bath. In a glassed gazebo-like structure out by the large outside downstairs pool, it was reported to have aroma therapy oil enhancing the experience.
In short, my experience helped convince me that the Japanese know something about relaxation that we Americans haven't even begun to imagine. I would recommend this place and this experience to anyone.

I like to visit onsens on each trip to Japan and this one was one of the best I have visited. It features Mt. Fuji views from the outside pool and from the single baths - but these are usually not vacant and you have to wait for long time to get into one. There is a room that is fully filled with water and works almost like a steam sauna. The inside pool is ok. The only drawback is that this onsen is very popular on weekends and it can get really full during festivals and events.
The restaurant is ok and the food was above average.

I downloaded the tripadvisor app just to write this review. I'm currently sitting in a traditional quiet area within the onsen having spent 2.5 hours relaxing in each of the different baths Yurari onsen has on offer. I don't usually spend time going to spas but this was completely worthwhile and fantastic value for money, just over ¥1,000 to stay as long as you wish. Very clean with amazing views. Highly recommend a visit.

Hello there. I heard that I cannot make a reservation for the private bath. Then is it ok to go there in the morning and pick the time that I want and comeback later? Maybe I can pay it in the morning?

Hello Linnea,
Would you recommend this hotel for somewhat picky people who cherish cleanliness and excellent service? Did you take public transportation to get there, and if so, could you give me the details?
Thank you so very much.

Hi! My friends and I are planning to go here in May but wanted to stay until 7:00 PM. Do you also have a shuttle bus from Fuji Chobo-no-yu Yurari going to Kawaguchiko Station at around that time? Thank you :)

How much is the fee of the private onsen ?
is this private room closed or has a view to the sky and the nature like the public one ?
should I book the private room in advance or whenever I come it will be available ?
Written 28 February 2018
The public parts are strictly separated, the private is for both genders.

Hi, i'm planning to visit Yurari Onsen with my family. Plan to get the private bath but I'm wondering if kids are allowed in the Onsen for the private room. If i take the private bath/room, can i bring my kids together?
Written 3 January 2018
Hi there, when I visited the onsen I did not use a private bath, but there were certainly children there with their parents in the public onsen, so I am sure your children would be allowed with you in the private onsen. All of our party were adults so I don't know any detail about children - so I am not sure if there are any minimum age limits for very young children. But it is a great experience, hope you enjoy it!
