    An overlooked English treasure
Simon Jenkins, in his excellent book England's Cathedrals, sings Southwell's praises.I'd never even heard of it so traveled up from London -only 75 mins on the train . What a wonderful place.Beautiful, full of history and almost completely devoid of tourists! And the guides - Joanne, Martin and Chris -were terrific.

A wonderful and attractive Minster and must-see place if visiting Southwell. This is set in a wonderful and inviting market town and is within a few minutes' walk from the Minster. The Minster is steeped in history with assistance and advice near the entrance should you require it in order to explore the Minster.

A feast for all the senses
Part of a visiting choir as a non singing partner. An amazing building filled with history and such helpful guides. Make sure you look at the leaves in the chapter house and the many, many carved heads on the inside and outside including Donald Trump! Don’t forget the intricately carved pews in the quire. Make sure you also look at the roman wall plaster and stunning stain glass.

    Not to be missed
This is well worth a visit. It’s impeccably maintained and the stonework, stained glass and woodwork are impressive. Our dog was welcomed inside, and the volunteers were friendly and informative. The grounds are beautiful and the refectory serves great refreshments. If you are in the vicinity don’t miss this

    Beautiful building
I was born in Southwell and visit the Minster regularly. It is a fabulous building containing some of the most beautiful stone carvings in Europe. If you have never visited then you have missed a treat. The romanesque architecture is stunning and the Minster is full of interest and beauty. Book a guided tour if you have time , you will not regret it.

    Exquisite
Beautiful building filled with history. Huge thanks to Dorothy for explaining some of the incredible features and the reason why dogs are allowed inside. Allow time to take it all in and also visit the Palace gardens/ruin. Car park opposite free for 0-2hrs which was an unexpected bonus. Some lovely shops in the small town too.

One of the countries hidden or unknown gems. Unsurpassed architecture, quiet, a great spiritual experience (if that is what you seek), and a place not to be missed. You should also walk in the Archbishop's Palace gardens. You won't regret either.
