This is a wonderful cathedral with soaring roof and beautiful stained glass. Quite simple inside, it shows its 10th century heritage well and nods to its older, Saxon roots. Well worth a visit and combine with lunch at the Saracen's Head around the corner.

This is an amazing building, both from the point of architecture and history. There was probably a church here in the 7th century. The Normans used the stones from the Saxon Church to build the Nave in 1108. The Chapter House is octagonal and has...More

Although we're not a religious family, we do love ecclesiastical architecture and Southwell doesn't disappoint. Friendly staff and volunteers and a beautiful example of a Norman Minster. Even the children loved it.
