How can it be protected when there is so much plastic litter Bins overflowing and although cars are not permitted there are quad bikes everywhere! What a shame, such a mess. Pity the poor animals and birds trying to live there. We saw tracks made...More

I have read few reviews before taking the trip and I am glad I went. Few things you need to be aware of: yes, it is windy, hence it is great spot for windsurfers. You can actually try new sport. It has beaches, sandy beaches....More

The scale of Lake Korission is impressive, stretching from behind sand dunes at Isos beach to Chalikounas beach, and joined to the sea by a small inlet. We saw a flock of Flamingoes in the distance. Worth a visit if you're in the area, but...More

Just inland from Halikounas beach (also spelt Chalikounas, usual problems of translitteration), and separated from the beach by a strip of beautiful dunes, Laguna Korission sports a rich aviarian fauna and the most beautiful flamingoes. I have some photos taken with my teleobjective and will...More

This was the third beach we visited in Corfu and we liked this one very much. It is special, hidden and there are not a lot of people. We liked it very much.

A little remote beach with sandy sea access and sunbeds for 6€ a set (2 sunbeds and umbrella). Also showers and mobile toilet there! On your way in or out step into Taverna Spiros Chalikounas!

Not easy to find due to poor signs and bad dirt roads. Plenty of sand and not too much to see really. There is a little beach behind the sand dunes but only accessible on foot, though there is a parking lot behind the beach.

We drove out here as it looked different, but there isn't much to do other than look at the lake itself. Didn't see much wildlife, rough tracks - we walked the last half mile. Nice enough walk, a fair few mosquitos.

The saltwater lake follows the boundary of Halikounas Beach, a protected nature reserve. Miles of sandy beach including a naturist, nude area to the south of the beach. The lake often in springtime has flocks of flamingo's in residence. Only two beach bars open during...More

Hi Agni A, I am sorry, I have only seen your question now. I am afraid I do not really know if flamingos reside there seasonally or whole year round. Probably not, however they were definitely there at the beginning of... More
