There are more than 350 ancient monuments within a six-mile radius of the village of Kilmartin, Argyll: 150 of them are prehistoric. This extraordinary concentration and diversity of monuments distinguishes the Kilmartin Glen as an area of outstanding archaeological importance. It is one of Scotland’s richest prehistoric landscapes. Kilmartin House Museum is an award winning world-class centre for archaeology and landscape interpretation established to protect, investigage and interpret this internationally important archaeological landscape and the artefacts that have been found here. At this unique and vibrant centre you can also see ‘The Valley of Ghosts’ audio-visual – a time travelling experience with breath taking imagery and haunting music. Mr B and I really enjoyed our trip to this delightful and interesting museum, which is in such a beautiful setting. There is much here to interest both adults and children. Sadly the coffee shop closed at 4.45 so we could not sample their delights....More

Our timeline is very popular - along with the model of the Glen with the monuments highlighted - good fun for children and adults alike.

Very interesting and worth saving for a rainy day. The cafe is good and well priced. You can also use the toilets without having to pay for the museum.More

This is a great little museum that focuses on the concentration of 350 prehistoric and historic sites within a 6 mile radius of Kilmartin. This is a very well put together museum with lots of information and interactions. Well worth the stop

I think it would be difficult for a person in a wheelchair to get to some of the sites. I was recovering from a broken foot and thought it was pretty rough going...mud, gates, and those grates on the paths to keep the sheep... More

There is a path without steps from the car park to the Museum - don't use the short cut next to the toilets as it has uneven stone steps but keep to the track towards the front of the 'house' and left of the shortcut and you... More
