This NT property is a treat, 3 things in one visit - historic house, beautiful garden and a water mill. Plus there's the Redwoods Restaurant which had fantastic soup and I did what the locals do (apparently) and had it with a cheese scone. Husband had a cheese and pickle sarnie. The house dates back to 12th century, the last... More

Not to be missed, worth a visit throughout the year. Garden impresses, well maintained, but be prepared for extensive walking. House does not disappoint, amazing what the wealth of the 1920s achieved.Yet another example of the father figures in the oil industry giving us the opportunity to appreciate their wealth and donation.

We enjoyed a wonderful tour of the historic Anglesey Abbey, a wonderfully preserved, sumptuous country home of Lord Fairhaven that was originally a priory. In addition to the luxurious interior, we found the domestic wing of the house very interesting. The gardens are simply stunning. Recommend!

A very scenic, peaceful place, and a very well preserved house that has the original bathrooms and kitchen, all of which were fascinating. You get a good lesson on how hard it is to conserve such a property as well. Neat gardens and walking areas, good parking, and a lovely gift shop. This would be one of my first choices... More

Very well maintained property. Lovely place to visit for all ages. Walks and adventure and wildlife galore. Truly a blessing to have such a wonderful national trust venue just outside of Cambridge Central business district.

Beautiful property, which gave the distinct impression of being a home, not a museum piece. As we have come to expect, the guides were very knowledgeable and interesting, especially a very dapper gentleman named George. The mill is also definitely worth a visit, the walk along the river between house and mill were particularly picturesque.

I arrived three quarters of an hour early on a Saturday morning. I found the car park, which was a large one, to be virtually empty. As I sat and waited, in my car, other people turned up. At about 10am, I got out and walked to the entrance. One of the men told me, the house didn't open for... More

What a beautiful site to visit. There are several routes through the gardens you can choose to walk, to reach the house. I took route 02, which National Trust estimates takes 40 minutes to walk, to reach the House. Along the way I stopped at various points to enjoy statues and plants. When I reach Lode Mill I went inside... More

Had thought about visiting for a while and finally made the decision. Was not disappointed. Fantastic gardens. Lovely food in the café. Only one slight niggle and that was the house tour. Far too fast. We were rushed through as only 45 mins was allocated for the tour. Too rushed. Needs to be at least an hour. House is too... More

We called in here for a fairly short stop on our journey home.We were very impressed, the grounds were well cared for and the walk to Lode Mill was enjoyable. We did manage A quick look round the house which has a more modern feel than many other N.T .properties but nevertheless had some interesting aspects and boasts a list of high...
