About
Nestled in the spa town of Saturnia, this series of waterfalls cascade sulfur-rich water from natural hot springs over rocky formations into terraced travertine pools. The water temperature hovers around 100 degrees Fahrenheit, comfortable all year round, and particularly enjoyable in winter. The stunning beauty of the falls and surrounding fauna make this spot worth stopping by, even if you’re not interested in having a soak. Cascate del Mulino is free to enter and immensely popular—arrive at daybreak if you want a corner to yourself. There are changerooms, paid parking, and a small snack bar serving refreshments. – Tripadvisor

If you’re basing your expectations on idyllic Instagram shots then you might be disappointed, at least for the time being.

The land immediately surrounding cascades appears to be under development, having been recently churned up by diggers. There is also a lot of litter and erosion of the ground left by other visitors. In short, it’s not paradise.

I have no idea if the aims of the development are to eventually improve the appearance of the area, and some people might worry that the cascades will lose their authenticity. The fact is though that the falls are clearly already suffering from the number of visitors as it is, and so it seems wise for better facilities to be provided. The only other solution to preserve places like this is for tourists like me to stop visiting - perhaps we should!

Other than that it is quite amazing to see and bathe in hot water gushing down cascades in the middle of the countryside. The walk up to the village of Saturnia is also pleasant.

I’d recommend going at sunrise if you want to avoid other people. Even in January by the time I left at around 9.30am more and more people were starting to arrive.

First of all I have to underline the fact that for free Thermal baths, the water is not so bad. And you also have free parking.
For all the rest: people and place I would say a big No NO. Is an open free space for everybody including animals that go inside the water. When I went, it was also full of drunk and strange people, I would not recommend this place for a solo visit or family with children.

The waterfalls of the Mill are one of the wonders of Tuscany. Compared to the first time I discovered them, as a girl, now the large hot tubs are equipped with a building that, for a fee, provides bathrooms, changing rooms and lockers, as well as a dining area. Less wild than the Fosso Bianco di Bagni San Filippo allow, despite the people, a nice moment of relaxation in nature in any season, something really precious these days.

I was amazed by so much beauty, it's a landscape worth seeing at least once.
The waterfalls are free, you can park for a fee, perhaps ask for a pass at the accommodation where you are staying and above all bring change because the car park does not accept banknotes but only cards and change.
Another important aspect is to arrive equipped with shoes for walking on stones in the water that are not flip-flops. We are in open nature so you will have to leave your things unattended.
Another detail...it is an area full of bees and horseflies so you have to be very careful.
Inside the waterfalls there are some red worms...harmless to humans.
There is a bar where you can have restaurants and bathrooms.
Everything is repaid by the thermal waterfalls

I was there on a Sunday and it's super crowded. Even though they are natural, you can see the hand of man, especially due to the pebbles added - probably to prevent people from slipping on the boulders covered by vegetation. There is a paid car park not far away (€2.5 per hour or €4/h if you are a guest of an accommodation facility, showing a specific voucher. There is a very well-stocked refreshment point where you can either have lunch complete is consuming snacks and/or sandwiches... unfortunately here too, long queues and long waiting times. Ultimately, it is pleasant to spend a couple of hours at the Mulino waterfalls.

It is one of the most special places in Tuscany because it is different considering that there are many thermal places in all of Tuscany. It has a huge paid parking about 200-300 meters from the "charcas" and a bar-restaurant right when you enter. Entry to the waterfall is free, the waters are warm and blue, very original. In general, always with a lot of people. curious place

the place is very nice, moreover free... I spent a relaxing day in the warm waters of the spa... there are changing rooms, showers (1€ per coin), lockers for storing bags (5€)... a tip for those who want to go there: bring a packed lunch, because the only bar (which also serves as a restaurant) there, is very expensive as far as prices are concerned... a plate of pasta 15€, a panzanella (bread and tomato with something else) 10€... a large glass of Pepsi 6€... I understand the trade, I understand that the spa is free access, but a tweak on prices would not be bad.

Cascate del Mulino in Saturnia, Providence of Grosseto in Tuscany is a rare hidden gem. From a distance it is beautiful to see. From within it is an exciting and unusual experience. Two waterfalls flow into natural travertine pools which fall into more rounded pools creating a cascade. The water is warm and rich in sulfur and minerals and supposedly good to bath in.

I will say that this was my least favorite part of my trip to Italy. The Saturnia Thermal Springs look amazing but up close, it is filled with a bunch of tiny red worms and an extremely rocky floor that was painful to walk on. The big rocks were slimy and slippery with moss. You definitely need water shoes here. I stayed in the falls part of the thermal springs instead of the pool part so I wouldn't see the red worms floating in the water. The rushing water wouldn't allow them to be able to land on you or your swimwear. (Staying in the falls also meant staying in the blaring sun so I got toasted.) Everyone else was frolicking in the water and ignoring the red worms. I know they are considered harmless but I was grossed out. I kept thinking about what if there get in your ear, in your hair, or some other body crevice. I later went to Google to learn more and also found out I am not the only person that was not feeling this thermal spring. The only good part of this stop was that the water wasn't too hot because Italy was already 90+ every day I was there. The water is more bath water temp. I would not recommend this thermal spring. After going to hot springs in Iceland, Costa Rica, St. Lucia, etc., this was a huge letdown and not worth the 2.5-hour drive to get there.

It's about. Lovely and natural place to the maximum. The water is very warm, regenerating, although perhaps July is the least suitable time but full of beautiful people. In these areas stage more than necessary indeed mandatory!
