Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Ferry runs constantly in season and takes just a couple of mins to get across. No fuss, no muss and then you're done!

It was easy to get on and not a big queue when we got there. However, we were short changed. It was 8 Euor and we tendered 2x 5 Euro notes. We got a receipt and then the male attendant walked off pretty fast. Only 2 minutes later did we realise we had no change. There was no point getting out of the car and confronting the man as we had no evidence. He had given us a receipt saying fee 8 Euro paid 8 Euro Change nil.

Running regularly from the mainland across to Valentia Island ( about every 15-20 minutes) taking cars, cyclists and pedestrians. The night we caught it as pedestrians (1 Euro each way) to the marvellous seafood restaurant near the dock on the mainland the last ferry was 9.30.

This ferry’s turnaround is fast, and crossing quick - perhaps not cheap at €8 - but what’s not to like about it - a great shortcut.

I don’t know if 8 Euro for a 5 minute ferry is high or low, but it’s fast, convenient and easy. We didn’t do it to save time ( which it does, just not much, maybe 20?) But it looked cool and it was.

I travel to the Island 5 or 6 times per year for fishing Last year the charge was 10 euro.I went in April this year and the charge was 12 euro ,fair enough.Last week I went and was informed that the charge was 15 euro for camper Van's.The journey to Portmagee is only 15 minutes extra and what scenery. Never will get ferry again.

This is what it says it is, a ferry that gets you from valentia into “town” aka Cahersiveen. It runs from typically May to October and is really the ideal way to get off valentia if you don’t feel like taking the bridge through portmagee and around.
The staff have always been very nice and friendly! I was always on foot or as a passenger in a car and I never experienced much of a wait if any. I think the longest I waited in line to board was that of one cycle to reenard point and back. Anyway, it’s a ferry and it does the trick. Also good to note that on particular blustery and choppy water days there’s a chance it won’t be running. Otherwise it seemed to stick fairly closely to the every 15 min or so schedule.

A bit pricey for such a short journey but it does save 20 minutes driving to access the Island via Port Magee... check out the multi trip option...
