Beautiful gardens, do not miss them if in the area. Great place to visit on a sunny afternoon, would lift your spirits, its a little bit of heaven. Little coffee shop and picnic area. Great family outing, lots to explore, and lovely walk through the woods down to the river. Magical. Free entry, you just pay for car parking.

This is my favourite place in the world. A true treasure. Fantastic place to walk around through the woods down by the river slaney and up 100 steps!! Across little bridges. You might be lucky to see an otter or deer. During summer months there is a quaint coffee shop with lovely homemade food. Thoroughly recommend this place

I have visited the lovely Altamont Gardens several times recently. These are not the sort of formal gardens with cute manicured lawns and rows of neat flowers. There is a walled in garden where you can buy trees and shrubs. This is pretty if not over elaborate. The true beauty of Altamont is in the wonderful walks through magnificent woodland.... More

Altamont was a labour of love created much as you see it today by a lady called Corona North. She left the estate to the Irish people and what a wonderful gift! You can wander at your ease through the Arboretum, Bog Garden and the beautiful River Walk. The gardens cover almost 40 acres, so you can easily fill a... More

Stopped here for a walk around on our way home from a night away to have a stroll around. Not much happening when we arrived. Gardens are nice. Lake is nice. But no wow factor. Just NICE

Altamount is a family favourite and no time is better than when the absence is bordered by golden daffodils dancing in the sun. Altamount is a historic garden now owned by the state and one which is certainly worth a visit if in the area. Lovely walk around the lake and you can even go down to the River slaney... More

This place is a gem. Given the diverse nature of the gardens and how extensive they are, I am impressed by how well maintained they are. It's a beautiful spot to enjoy nature and take a stroll.

These gardens are a delight, we went to see the snowdrops, as they have a huge selection of snowdrop varieties. We also will go back to the gardens as we realsied that a lot of the trees, rhododendrons, camellias, magnolias and the perennial beds had to flower. So it is a garden you can visit year round and enjoy. When... More

Altamont gardens offers peace beauty and nature just off the Enniscorthy to Carlow route. Well sign posted. Pay parking at the gardens. Cafe during summer season. Winter and summer flowers to see. Swans on the sleepy lake. A wonderful place to visit any time of year. The old house is not open for viewing but surrounded by birds, mature majestic... More
