Followed signs for this place while touring the Ring of Kerry. Low tide so walked across water to ruins. Sunny day, what a view. Enjoyed exploring the castle, then playing on the beach with a castle in the background, cool stop!

it is beautiful but with the house next to it it got a bit strange, so close and so ugly it is a negative influence on the heritage

Great little ruin which from the outside doesn't look all that different to other ruins but the inner staircases are all intact and allows you to climb to the top and take in some great views. The path ways are fairly narrow so do be...More

This made for a brilliant focal point for many of our photos. It looked beautiful in the morning mist giving a sense of fairytale Ireland of legend.

Located just off a beach within a short hike to the Abbey. Wasn't very busy at the beach on the day we visited, but the weather wasn't great either. I would imagine it could get crowded on a warm & sunny day. This was one...More

I visited this remote beach on Christmas Day 2013 and although it was a lovely day the tide was in and I wasn't able to walk over to the castle. Yesterday the timing was perfect and worth taking my sandals off to walk thru the...More

I am a sucker for any castle but especially one on a blue flag beach. It's a lovely ruin and one you will find at the beginning or end of the Skellig Ring drive depending on where you start. If you are driving from Waterville...More

We had stopped here briefly in 2015 and it haunted me so we spent more time in 2016. The castle is really an experience. We waded across the water and explored to our heart's content. Steeped in history which one absorbs with each step. The...More
