Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

During our time in Thailand we visited several markets and some are definitely better than others. I don't doubt that the food is very fresh on the markets (as in the fish is freshly caught, the fruit & vegetables are sourced locally etc.) but notwithstanding the hot weather and set-up at this market, the overall hygiene was grim at this site, with fish drying in the sun covered in 100s of flies, open waste everywhere, random liquids running along the floor and just generally unpleasant, hence we chose not to buy anything here. Disappointing.

Sunday nights are great, cheap cocktails, and live music. Loads of shopping but its the same stall owners that go and sell at fisherman's village. We still did a load of shopping. Loads of street food, smelt good but we didn't try any. Heaps of pancake stalls and ice cream stalls, they were both delicious.

This place sells fresh food and ready-to-eat food as well. There's a lot of isaan food, which we were looking for, and most of it was really good! pricing was also very reasonable and there's a bit of parking space nearby. There's not very many places to sit and eat though, so if you're living nearby, might be a better idea to buy takeaway.

We have visited this market nearly every day and on the first day there were a good few stalls open but over the days… for example the mango and sticky rice woman wasn’t back there! The food stalls especially did some amazing peanut and chicken with rice… for 50 Bahts that’s about £1.25…decent portion for a very little bit of money

Amazing stretch of beach, safe to swim with plenty of activities to keep you occupied or hire a sun chair from one of the many accommodation places and laze the day away.
Mr Jack sells cooked corn on the cob and fresh fruit and each item is only 60 Baht.
We have stayed on Koh Samui many times however from now on we will be only staying on Lamai Beach.

Me and partner came here one night during our stay in Chaweng.
This is a must do when staying in ko samui. Its divide into food street stalls and crafts, clothes etc stalls.
I bought so many nice gifts for myself and others at this market and whilst some people bartered I felt the prices they were offering were reasonable or low anyway that it was not needed.
I am gutted we didnt buy any fake tshirts at this market as everyone told us ro wait till we go to bangkok. However, we havent found and in BKK and some we have are poor quality and triple the price.
The food stalls here are amazing so much flavour, colour and choice. You could spend ages just trying all the food but its so big you would need longer than one night. As expected all the food here is cheap and there's many places to sit but ask you buy a drink or cocktail all 90 baht.
The market is a great place to just go to wander and look at everything that's happening from the cooking to tasting local food.
You must try on your visit to ko samui

Interesting insight into Thai cuisine - not a single part of any animal is wasted - whilst not keen on eating food without refrigeration, it was still worthy of a visit to understand Thai culture.
Be respectful and ask if you may take photos of their food.

Brilliant little market with all the stuff you get in other places, but seems a bit cheaper! perhaps it was the fact it was low season which bought the prices right down, but I wish I would have known and bought more stuff to bring home!!

Tucked away in the corner of the market is Big Fish - an amazing Thai cafe / restaurant the food is cooked to order so everything is very fresh. The food is cooked to your request so if you do not like spicy they will leave the spice out. Real authentic Thai food- very reasonably priced at under 100 bht a dish.
