Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Lovely little place right next to the river and could also see the steam trains.
BUT
If you are not local don’t expect them to be nice !! the woman serving looked at me like 💩 for some reason wanted cash, not card payment ( spent over £10). Would only serve me mugs of tea and not a pot but then served pots to the next people!
Then served the next lady first as she was local . We had to wait 15 mins just for 2 mugs of tea and 2 cakes ! That’s not good customer service it’s shocking !!! It’s a shame because this is a special visit for us!

Located on the river bank. This is a garden centre but most visitors are there for the cafe. We visited for a cream tea and were disappointed that it was pre-packed and used squirty cream. Crockery used was all disposable - a waste and really not very nice/elegant.

The garden centre offers some decent-looking plants

Came here several times during a week’s stay in the area & loved it every time. Extensive & attractive gardens, by a small river, lots of tables dotted around, good range of food & drinks, a fine range of well-tended plants. Pretty idyllic and the little children loved it too :-)

This was our first visit since Covid struck and we were looking forward to our usual pot of tea and scones.
Placed our order and we were given a buzzer that buzzed us when our order was ready. No sooner had we sat down than the buzzer went and we had to get up to collect our order. Disappointed that the tea came in paper cups rather than a teapot and the scones were pre buttered in a paper tray.

Celebrated afternoon tea here for my Mother’s birthday with 30 friends and family. Everything was super fresh, amazing scones, an extremely attentive team and of course a fabulous setting. The gardens were full of colour and many went home with plants from the extensive array on display. Many thanks for a lovely afternoon.

My daughter and I had a lovey tea for two in very pleasant surrounding. Very high quality beautifully baked cakes. Scones are divine packed full of cream and jam. Beautiful lemon cake slice the sponge was so light and a square chocolate brownie crunch. Very home made. The salmon in the sandwiches very fresh and tasty the ham again fabulous. Very well presented on a two tier dish. Great cups of Yorkshire tea. Eleven pounds each great value given the amount and quality plus the lovely surroundings. We heard and saw the Yorkshire steam train pass added to the most prettiest of surroundings. Our dogs sat along with us. . Drivers need to look out for the sign entering from the main room a short drive in or the garden centre car park can be missed. Highly recommended can't praise the food enough!.
