About
Surrounded by a lush pine forest, this crescent-shaped beach is one of the hottest spots in north Mallorca. Take a dip in the warm and crystal clear waters, or get a tan going on the sandy (and pebbly) shore. The pine trees offer plenty of natural shade from the sun and the beach is lined with loungers and umbrellas you can rent. This small beach can get quite busy at midday, especially during summer, so get there in the morning or late afternoon to snag a good spot. There are also several nearby beach bars and waterfront restaurants for food and drinks. – Tripadvisor

- Bianca Galán-GuzmánBarcelona, Spain80 contributionsParadise in Northern MajorcaI visited Platja de Formentor back in October of 2022. The climate was absolutely perfect, and it was not overrun with tourists. The water was calm and cool, and it was a great place to spend a late afternoon. The parking lot was pretty packed and we paid over 15 euros for just a few hours, so definitely recommend doing some research to see if there are cheaper lots nearby. I remember there being clean bathrooms at a local beach club nearby.Visited February 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 20 February 2024
- Heather L8 contributionsA must see while in Puerto PollensaBreathtakingly beautiful and a must see! The journey up is a little scary on the bus as it is steep and mountainous but the beach is like something from a picture postcard with trees turquoise waters and good class restaurants. Just amazing.Visited May 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 21 May 2024
- ChrisfromLockhartLockhart, Texas123 contributionsthe whole beach to ourselves in the morning. We went in June and didn't know what to expect. we had the whole beach to ourselves from 9:45am to 10:30am. then the boats came to drop off people. We drove and were able to get a good parking spot in area B. When we left around 11:30am the larger parking area was getting filled up. My wife did some snorkeling and my daughter and I watched some sea birds fishing near the beach. Just wish it wasn't so windy. It was a little chilly.Visited June 2024Travelled with familyWritten 28 June 2024
- ArgieinLondon1974London, United Kingdom4 contributionsAmazing beachThe beach is absolutely stunning, the downside of getting with an excursion is that they allow less than one hour to stay and it’s really beautiful. Less polished that the other beaches such as Alcudia or Muro. It gets crowded since it’s not really big. Crystal clear water.Visited June 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 30 June 2024
- Eliot LaughtonWidnes, United Kingdom60 contributionsFerry to paradiseGot the ferry from PP outside Stay restaurant, €17 return. Pleasant way to get there, especially when it’s 35 degrees. Beach is fantastic. It was very busy and we just plonked ourselves on a couple of sunbeds down the far end at Playa Mar. We paid without checking by card. €30 a bed! Be warned this is the expensive end. €12.50 a bed nearer to the ferry, just check the signs first 😱. The restaurant near the ferry is self service and does bocadillos and hot food and not too expensive. As a day trip from PP it’s not to be missed. Maybe better to go outside busy weeks in height of summer.Visited August 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 4 August 2024
- zottek78 contributionsWorth the trip to platja formentorThis beach is quite narrow (less than 10m) and it's a pebbled beach. It's quite far from the main tourist areas so it's not loaded with people. There's an expensive restaurant, so plan ahead and bring food and water. It is adjacent to the four seasons resort. The sunbeds are the most expensive I have ever seen (210 Euros for 2 beds and a shade). So just skip them and spread your towel on the beach. The water and the views are amazing, so it's well worth the effort of getting there and spending a few hours. You can get there by car or bus - it's a very scenic and beautiful road. Tip: plan ahead to take the bus to Cap de Formentor (the lighthouse)Visited September 2024Travelled with familyWritten 15 September 2024

Beautifully situated in a bay. We only visited the first part. The bay consists of several beaches.
At the beginning of the sea there are some pebbles, after that it is just a sandy bottom. So it can be a bit difficult to get into the sea.
You can rent sunbeds and parasols (€ 28.00 - July 2023). If you only want a sunbed, this costs €9.00 per bed.
There is a lifeguard on duty.
Officially, smoking is not allowed on the beach, but not everyone adheres to this.
There is also a restaurant and shop.
We parked directly in the first (large) parking lot, which is located at the exit to Cap Formentor. Most cars can be parked under a roof, so they are largely in the shade. A day's parking costs €20.00 and can only be paid for by card.

Sandy, but also pebbled beach. Crystal clear water, mountain view, pine trees. Sand area is very narrow. Unfortunately place is quite busy with a lot people around. Parking space is available later in a day, but we paid 2.40 euro for 30 minutes, the more you stay the costs are higher. Be careful.

The beach from a visual perspective is beautiful. The sand area is quite narrow so each party is lined up since there’s not enough sand for a depth of two parties. The worst part about the beach is a terrible smell. Not sure what it is but it makes it a very unpleasant experience. I hope it’s not sewage. They also charge a significant amount of money for parking. I would go elsewhere

We were pleasantly surprised at several things. The beach, small and narrow but very long that offers various shade due to the surrounding pine forest. The water of an incredible green blue with a shallow and comfortable bottom.
We were also concerned about the possible closure of the road between 10am and 10.30pm and the price of parking in the surrounding hotels (viveremaiorca reports 11 cents per minute googled). And instead, we not only managed to get to just a few meters from the beach, but entered the parking lot after a little while waiting for someone to leave (it was 11.30) we parked and discovered that the payment machines were closed with a "free parking" sign on top, really amazing.
The only note a little out of tune the bar L'Espigò really too expensive and with a service not up to scratch. Sunbeds from 25 euros (umbrella and 2 sunbeds) depending on the point of the beach.

Different and spectacular beach. The Pines seem to hang over the beach, giving shade to much of it. You are bathing in the water and you breathe in a mixture of the smell of sea and pine trees. For my very special beach. I recommend taking the bus in August, I think it is more comfortable and you avoid worries. The beach was a bit crowded but that doesn't mean I can lower the score because if you don't stay at the beginning of it, if you go towards the end to the left, you end up finding a good place. Very special beach.

Got the ferry from Peurto Pollenca outside Stay restaurant, €17 return. Pleasant way to get to Formentor beach rather by road.
Beach is very nice with sand. Sunbeds are pricey with the best mattress types being very expensive (see photo). Take a beach mat although there are many large rocks to sit on.
Views are beautiful and you can walk for about half a mile around the bay amongst pine trees.
The restaurant near the ferry is self service and not too bad for price with coffees and hot chocolate around 3 euros.

Lovely beach in a fantastic setting, quite busy but was able to get a nice spot. The see was crystal clear and the sand was white and soft on the toes
Downside
- I think there are piranhas in the Sea as I was viciously bitten by a flesh eating fish which left me with a nasty injury that drew blood. I went back into the sea about an hour later and was bitten again in the same place
- restaurants are quite expensive and so is the parking

We've seen many beautiful beaches in our time, in places like Fiji, Hawaii, the Caribbean etc, but this beach really does rival them all! We were so surprised and impressed! The sand is white, the water is turquoise, and the views include lush green islands in the distance. We felt as if we were in a tropical paradise. It really reminded us of some of the beautiful beaches in Thailand. If you're in Mallorca, don't miss a visit to this slice of paradise! Like all European beaches, it was very busy, but if you take the time to walk to the end you can find a spot to call your own.

Playa Formentor is at the northern end of Mallorca island. Beach is a mix of sand and pebbles, secluded in a bay below a pine forest - very relaxed and picturesque.
However, parking is pretty expensive (all around are high end hotels), as well the bars and restaurants around. Therefore, we stayed only two hours but enjoyed our time.

Is there a shop near the beach that you can buy water?
Written 5 September 2018
Yes but eat in the restaurant/cafe between the two parts of the beach only if you're really really hungry. Worst lunch I've ever had, ok, so the beer was cold.

Hay parking cerca de esta playa? Alguna recomendación para visitarla? Se llena rapido el parking?
Written 6 August 2018
