Akrotiri city view and a pleasant place
We stayed in Akrotiri and we saw day and night the castle from our accomodation. If you are here, worth to visit it. Nice view to the island and both of the beaches. There is a coffe bar, and a church in it. Free entrance and easy to reach by walk.

    Wonderful cafe!!
This place made our Santorini experience 100 times better! We stayed here 5 days and all 5 days went to the cafe! The food is amazing, the view is stunning but the best is Nicoletta, the owner. She’s warm and welcoming and such a positive soul! Made us feel at home and crated a beautiful atmosphere for us. I totally recommend going to meet her and try the food. Fava was my favourite but also tomato balls and vine leaves! We can’t wait to be back!

Nice Slice of History of Akrotiri
Visited the Venetian Castle of Akrotiri, Santorini. We love history and this was amazing for us. Downside of it all is parts of the Castle are off limits and rooms are being used as a dumping ground for old beds and washing machines. Such a shame that the locals are ruining what is their history of the island and how it used to be. Worth the visit though in my book.

Visited here in may of 2023 and the cafe here I spot on, the attention to detail and quality of service is brilliant. The location is stunning as you are looking out onto the beautiful island of santorini. A proper little hidden gem.

What a little gem it is!!!!!!Nektarios and Nikoletta open their beautiful unique castle, that is their family home. They create also an amazing place that you can enjoy coffee, drinks and their homemade delicacies, such as Fava, salads and many more, must try their 22 years old visanto, liquid sunshine!!!! Both of them they welcome their guests as family, beautiful kind people, and the most amazing moon rise. A place that we will go back again for sure 💞💞💞

Surely something you don't know about this small Fortress is that it is private and probably the only one in the Aegean that has an owner! As a place it seems neglected but if you think about what funding is needed to carry out excavations and restorations, something that was attempted by a private person but the money was lost in the Greek state....Historically it exists from the 12th century as Byzantine and from the 14th century as Venetian tower until the middle of the 17th century...It was not taken by any conqueror, not even by Barbarossa....Today its owner at the top, where he grew up, in fact his father's house has turned it into a cafe-restaurant without having changed anything internally or externally which gives it special interest! You will go inside to see the hall with the two unique windows! There you can eat or drink a coffee...I preferred inside because of the heat...But outside you have a great view of the whole island! The soul of the restaurant is Nicoletta, the owner's wife, and she told me everything I wrote, this shows her love for her place! Good luck Nicoletta, I was glad to meet you and learn your story!

The castle is not much to look at as much of it is in ruins, but it still has a charm about it. Hence the negative reviews here.

The important bit is the beautiful cafe/restaurant ran by Nikoletta which does not appear on Trip Advisor as such, but look up 'Punta Castelli Traditional Greek kafeneion on Google and you will see 100% positive reviews. Go to this cafe for a truly Greek experience.

My friend and I visited the Venetian castle in Akrotiri on a Sunday in late July in the late morning before we decided to go to the ancient Akrotiri Archeological excavation site and to the Red Beach. We had to walk up a hilly small road to get up to the castle but at least walking around wasn't that bad because the hotel that we were staying in was in Akrotiri as well.

The castle looks interesting from the outside and we took a few pictures of it. It has very small winding stairs to get up to the castle's other levels but all of the doors to the castle appeared to be locked. The castle is unmanned unfortunately so there's no one who can give any visitors any information about it and that's why it's free to visit that castle.

I just wish that the doors in the castle were open. The castle also looks like people dump trash in it as well or like a homeless person may live in it.

That castle is near to some small grocery stores, a tour guide company, a pharmacy, a few gift shops, a handful of nice looking taverna restaurants and several hotels and self catering apartments so at least it's located in a very convenient part of Akrotiri.

The Venetian Castle or what it remains has magnificent views, a lot has been destroyed by an Earthquake, but, part has been rebuilt by the lovely family who calls it home!
There is a beautiful café with outstanding delicacies produced by Nikoletta.
Highly recommend her delicious homemade liqueurs, the cake and cookies!
There are lots of different options! Very clean, pleasant, very idyllic!

It is a trek to get to the Venetian Castle and once you get there you need to intuit exactly what you are seeing. Some signs would have been nice. Lovely view, which can be said about just about everywhere in Santorini. The little town in which the Castle is nestled is charming. It is not worth a trip unless you run out of things to do in Santorini.
