About
A virtual visit to Dr Frankensteins laboratory with Geissler Tubes, Bouquet Tubes, Railway Tubes, Jacob's Ladder, telegraph system, early x-ray tubes and many more crackling spark, electric flame laden demonstrations. Showing the education of the young Victorians, using many of the static accessories and rare artefacts, as used by them. We hope your visit here will prove interesting, stimulating and will give an insight into this largely extinct branch of science.

    What a wonderful afternoon visit
We had an absolutely gorgeous visit here today! The exhibit itself visibly alone is incredible and Tony’s charismatic and informative demonstrations are the most perfect accompaniment! The half time refreshment with Tony and Pat was also delightful, they are wonderful, warm and very very personable hosts. All in all a phenomenal experience, brilliant value for money and from two truly lovely people too. A total gem in the heart of the Yorkshire coast and very much deserving of all the awards and praise it has received :D 11/10 Highly recommend a visit.

A fantasticly informative and utterly enjoyable afternoon in wonderful company.
Can over three hundred 5 star reviews really be correct? Yes they can!! A visit to the Museum of Victorian Science is an incredibly enjoyable and informative experience. See Physics come alive as the sparks fly! Then enjoy a half time interlude with tea and cakes before returning for a truly monstrous finale!! Our hosts Tony and Pat did everything they could to make this a truly unforgetable day. A tremendous day out. A truely unique experience.

    Something very different!
The many reviews say it all. What a great experience. My husband and I in our sixties, plus my daughter and boyfriend in their thirties, all enjoyed the morning we spent at this museum. We learnt a lot and marvelled at the many quirky inventions. Tea and cakes were great too and provided a welcome interlude. Would definitely recommend booking a visit. Ours lasted about two and a half hours in total. Do ask for a seat if that is too long to stand.

A very entertaining two and a bit hours!
This was recommended by some friends of ours who had visited a few months earlier and it certainly lived up to expectations. Tony has a very interesting collection of instruments and other technical objects from the era. He demonstrated these, and explained operation with great enthusiasm, and was very happy to answer any questions we had. Half way through the tour we were served with tea and cakes and had a nice chat with his wife Pat. It was great end to our short break in Whitby before the long journey home.

    Exceptional and unique experience!
There is a ‘Bad’ review from ‘Sandra’ from March which absolutely must be referring to somewhere completely different. This experience is like no other. Tony is friendly, welcoming, full of knowledge, buckets of fun and thoroughly engaging. The finale is both hilarious and awe-inspiring. Tony’s gorgeous wife, Pat, provides a fabulous afternoon tea. A truly warm and beautiful couple who make you feel very welcome in their stunningly beautiful home.

    A totally delightful experience!
This little museum is a real treasure. Tony has collected an amazing amount of Victorian scientific equipment and in two hours or so he demonstrates and explains how things work. This he does with style, wit and enthusiasm. The visit is totally personal (just the two of us) and even includes tea/coffee and delicious cakes served at half-time by Pat and Tony in their kitchen. Anyone with the remotest interest in the history and development of physics in the late 19th and early 20th centuries would really enjoy this experience as did I, a humble research chemist! Tony and Pat are a delightful couple who made us so welcome it felt as though we had known them for years.

    Unique experience
Having visited this collection of Victorian scientific equipment, presented with enthusiasm by Anthony, with the first hour given to an interesting and informative introduction to some of the history behind the equipment, clearly explained. Half time provides a choice of drinks and cakes served by Pat And a friendly personal chat around the table before resuming for with some demonstrations of science equipment interjected with some humour. We certainly learnt something from our visit and would recommend to anyone who is looking for something a little different, this is a unique personal experience.

Truly amazing and never to be forgotten …
Wow! What an absolutely delightful museum and presentation by Tony. Tony has an infectious enthusiasm for the inventions and findings of Victorian scientists. He explains it all so well with sufficient detail to ensure everyone understands the theory before the result are shown through his personally designed models and experiments - fantastic! Unique and thoroughly enjoyable. Pat and Tony welcomed us into their home and we left as friends - their hospitality superb - a most delicious tea party all served on beautiful china. We can’t thank you enough for such an awesome experience … we’ll never forget it. Many thanks to both Tony and Pat. Christine, Robert, Denise and David xx

    Wonderful trip into history
What an amazing trip. Tony and Pat are the loveliest people you could wish to meet. Tony's knowledge and passion for the science and history made the stories come alive. It was very interesting and a lot of fun. To have tea and cake halfway through and get to know Pat just added to the experience. Would thoroughly recommend to anyone with an enquiring mind.

What an amazing, unique experience delivered by Tony and his wife Pat. Everything was amazing from walking up the path and being greeted by Tony in costume, the amazing museum and sharing of knowledge and the delicious tea break. It was wonderful to have such an individual experience with both Pat and Tony taking a genuine interest in us throughout, remembering our names and that it was my partners birthday. Thank you so much

Absolutely engrossing visit from start to finish hosted by a guy who really knows his stuff and imparts it a style that is clear in explanation and attention - holding in delivery. Will enthusiastically and unreservedly recommend the museum to other adults. It is not really a suitable experience for young children though, who would probably just be bored after a while, ( although I suspect the closing Frankenstein light show would be even more appreciated by them than adults! ) We also enjoyed a very delightful tea break with Tony and his wife Pat.

A completely unique experience with the most warm, knowledgable, engaging and passionate people. A 2 hour demonstration of Victorian scientific inventions and discoveries with Tony, with a tea and cakes break midway through with Tony and lovely wife Pat. The whole thing was very sweet and charming and a million miles away from the kind of cynical, branded, commercialised formulaic 'experiences' that are so prolific these days. We loved it! What a way to end the year! We visited on New Years Eve and it was a truly unique experience. Tony is exceptionally knowledgeable and it was really fun to learn more about science through the years and seeing this in action. The tea break with Tony and Pat was lovely and they are very friendly and warm people. Highly recommend for anyone visiting but make sure to book weeks in advance as there is only one session a day for a maximum of 4 people.

Fantastic place 7 miles from Whitby. Wonderful demonstration of various victorian contraptions, some built by hand by the owner, followed by tea in China cups and cakes. Catered for vegans.

We arrived on a stormy day and were warmly greeted by Tony and Pat. Tony was in victorian dress and invited us into there lovely home. Tony's enthusiasm was infectious and his demonstrations were amazing. We were provided with tea and cake by the lovely Pat and we chatted like old friends. This is a thoroughly enjoyable experience and would highly recommend.
