Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Both children aged 15 and 12: managed to stand up by the end of their first 2 hour lesson to maintain instructor Luca’s 100% record! Caswell beach a perfect location for learning! Thank you!

We booked a half-day class with the school and were taught by Jamie who was absolutely fantastic. One of us was newer to surfing while the other had surfed a bit before and he was really helpful for the both of us, and took time to give us both tips with patience and great humour. We were lucky enough to be the only two people in the class which allowed him to spend more one-on-one time with each of us in the beautiful waters of Llangennith.

The price is definitely worth it as all the kit is included in addition to Jamie's brilliant teaching.

Jamie is a really wonderful and generous individual, he even gave us a lift back to Mumbles after the class and showed us his favourite spots on the Gower Peninsula (which he knows like the back of his hand). And this was after he swam out on his surfboard to try and help another surfer who had been swept quite far out and looked like they were in trouble!

Combined with the beauty of Rossli Beach, we cannot recommend Progress Surf School enough!

Grazie Jamie!

Wonderful experience for my first time surfing. I didn't expect to enjoy it so much and will definitely be back for more! As a first-timer I was a little nervous about the idea of going into the sea and getting splashed with waves, but I never expected to want to do it again straight afterwards!

I arrived at Caswell Bay with the wind picking up and touched based with Jamie who was a really positive influence all the way through the experience. We went through safety procedure and signals, instructions about surf positioning, best way to get on, and how to build momentum and ride a wave.
It was very beginner friendly and full of good tidbits. We practiced how to paddle on the board to build momentum, and how to move into different positions to balance on the board.

Once we got into the water, we waded out to waist high where I started practicing for the first time. The wind brought the waves to us at speed, so maybe not the most ideal conditions for learning, but I still enjoyed myself. Words can't really describe that exciting feeling when a wave taller than you is coming and you ride over it with the board.

I managed to catch a few waves which was a lot of fun. Even when I slipped off, I was in shallow water so I was okay. One good thing about the beach is that the salt helps you float if you do slip off. Once I got the hang of some basic moves and getting onto the board, we came back to shore to work on getting me to stand on the board. We went through the maneuvers a few times to build muscle memory and then hit the waves again.

One thing I learned was how much the wind makes an impact. As it was quite choppy, it was hard to stay on one part of the beach. That said I managed to do one standing surf before the end of my lesson, so I was very happy with the result. I credit Jamie for being very patient and good at explaining. When the lesson ran out of time, Jamie gave me a heads up for the last 5 minutes and I managed a few more waves before the end.

I highly recommend anyone interested interested to try it. I was unsure how much I would enjoy it, but once my adrenaline got going I was having a great time. I would advise anyone to bring your own towels and easy to change into clothes. Additionally during the early morning, there aren't many places to change your clothes in privacy near the car park, so please bear in mind.

A massive thank you to Jamie for making it an awesome experience and being such a chill dude!

We loved this surf experience. It was easy to book (amend). Easy to find, easy to get set up. It was fantastic instruction from Ben and Johnny. Such a beautiful location and even though it was super windy the eight of us (kids and adults) had an absolute blast. Thanks a million!

Fantastic 2 hour lesson with the extremely kind and patient Ben at Progress Surf school. Went with my 12 year old daughter and we both loved it. So easy to book, wetsuits included, warm up on the beach. I was nervous I wouldn’t be fit enough but Ben got me surfing! Highly recommend for some fun, quality time with a teenager, thank you Ben

Great Surf School and Amazing instructors Will & Ben! In Beginner 2hours Class they taught us how to stand up surfing. Even though English is not our first language they made sure we understood everything and were able to surf independently. Thank you so much both, hope to see you again soon.
