We have no experience of other levada walks to compare with this one with but thoroughly enjoyed the day out. Start by catching a no 96 bus from Funchal to Estraito (2.75 euros one way, around 40 minutes). There is a signpost to show you...More

Well this wasn´t a good idea for trip. I totally love the levadas like 25 fontes in the nature. This levada starts in the city up on the hill, then you walk around 2 km in the nature which was awesome, but the rest is...More

Love the Levadas, take some water if it's a hot day. Such beautiful walks, the scenery is truly magnificent. check in case there are any tunnels and take a torch if there is. Your phone torch may not be bright enough.

We walked from Estraita to Cabo Girao. Honestly, it was rather tedious, not the best, really just exercise. At Cabo Girao we could not find the bus stop, and finished up walking to Camara de lobos. trying.

Another levada walk starting at Estreito de Camara - there was very little clue as to where this started which is typical of these walks. Once found and car parked the walking is easy as they all are because they are relatively flat. Being linear...More

We walked several levadas on our trip and this was our least favourite. We walked the (longish) length from Boa Morte to the coast at Cabo Girao. Generally it is in good repair and reasonably easy walking but sections do need care. So decent footware...More

We managed to do the full length of this Levada in just over 5 hours, it's around 17km in total from the start in Boa Morte to Estreito De Camera De Lobos. The Levada walk is easy to follow and is almost flat for most...More

Well this one 'levada del norte' is safe. The parts where there are sheer drops have an alternative route and I did notice a nr of new rails had been added. We did our walks with both our kids, 10 and 12 years old and had no... More
