- BarryinSomersetBath, United Kingdom189 contributionsProbably too early in seasonA pretty beach but still needs some tidying up. Flotsam and branches from trees still on beach. Toilets still not open except by cafe by bus stop 26 . Cafe prices on high side but very good capucinno Visited on grey day so not seen at its best. Look forward to returning by bus when sun shining- but popular stop (end of line) so be prepared to wait!Visited May 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 16 May 2024
- TheMooresOnTourSevern Beach, United Kingdom131 contributionsLovely sea, the rest lets it downLovely crystal water, very calm, sandy beach and just absolutley beautiful. But...the sand is covered in what looks lime bean bag balls, bits of plastic (be careful as a bit stuck in my foot) everywhere and needs a good clean up. There are only a few sunbeds and charge €35 and the beach bar charged us €11.50 for w tiny, almost cold coffees. There were 2 other beach bars up along but they were closed. It also got very crowded and we left after a couple of hours. Shame as it has to be one of the best beaches, it needs cleaning up, affordable sumbeds and not a rip off beach bar.Visited June 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 5 June 2024
- travelnovice14 contributionsNot what I expected or wanted. This is a lovely beach ( provided by nature ) but it appears tourism and lack of care has spoilt it. There was only a handful of sunbeds which out stripped demand by 10 fold .....the taverner was open and nice but only offered drinks and very light snacks. It also seemed that the local authority wasn't keeping it tidy and clean....litter around. It's a shame as I think this "was" a popular beach but others in Skiathos outstrip it by far. We gave up and went to big banana beach , a 15 walk from koukanaries , up a hill , it was more expensive but very much worth it , money well spent. My next trip to Skiathos won't include this over rated beach.Visited June 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 12 June 2024
- Wynne R1 contributionDisappointed asno sunbeds and lying on the sand quite uncomfortable a shame as the beach is lovelyWe came back a week ago and there are no sunbeds on Koukounaries beach except at the far end which are priced at 34 euros for the front row and 30 euros for the others . As well the bar adjacent to them plays loud music all day.Maybe ok if you are young with a enough cash to pay for a sunbed but not for me. A definite No No for the older tourist.Think the Greek Government have shot themselves in the foot on this one.Visited June 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 13 June 2024
- uk2000steveEtchingham, United Kingdom129 contributionsKoukounaries Idyllic beach in a beautiful surroundingsAmazing location. Long, spacious, sandy beach with crystal, clear blue water. If you love sand, this is idyllic, but if you want a sunbed, you may not be so lucky. Plenty of places along the beach to eat and drink and run for everyone. Definitely one of the top beaches I’ve visited across the world. One slight downside, apart from lack of sunbeds is the music in the bars is far too loud hand, everybody has different music. We just love to hear nature and the sound of the sea.Visited July 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 4 July 2024
- Poinsettia18 contributionsLovely beach, shame it's not looked after just a little more.Lovely long sparkling stretch of sand. Water crystal clear. Of course it's busy with people, but plenty of sea activities, etc. Beach bars and places with music or without. Shame the toilets aren't nice to use, and infact are grim even for Greece. Cigarette butt's everywhere, why people can't put them in the bin rather than the sand. Bins overflowing by midday, no plastic recycling... just needs someone to care for it a little, sweeping up and whot not, keep it looking nice for years to come.Visited July 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 26 July 2024
- kristina pSofia, Bulgaria103 contributionsAmazing beachKukinaris beach is amazing, with fine golden sand and crystal clear sea with a sloping entrance, it is very suitable for children. There are extensive free areas, as well as paid areas with umbrellas and sunbeds. The price is not cheap, 30 euros for a set and you pay separately for consumption at the beach bar, as the prices there are also quite high. There are a variety of water sports, restaurants and a wonderful pine forest, which some people use as a natural shade. It was not by chance that it was Lady Diana's favorite beach! If you are on the island of Skiathos, you must visit it, it is accessible by the convenient city bus every 15 minutes.Visited July 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 26 July 2024
- Simona9 contributionsNiceVery nice. A lot of shade under the trees, but also a lot of tourists. Long beach with a lot of bars and restaurants. In some places there is loud music but if that bothers you there are also much more quiet parts of the beachVisited July 2024Travelled with familyWritten 6 August 2024
- Mátyás MartinákMiskolc, Hungary81 contributionsKoukounaries, our first beach in SkiathosThis is the beach we have been to twice. First we went to the eastern part of it, where we could park our car in a really good parking spot. The view is very beautiful, however the water is a bit dirty because of the many people there. There are also some little ships porting there.Visited August 2024Travelled with familyWritten 9 August 2024
- corme2451 contributionsCrystal clear waterNice beach, clear water. It was crowded when we went. Sunbeds were 40 euros for 3 beds, outrageous.Food and drink waiter service, quite expensive too. Water was crystal clear to swim and snorkel in. Loved seeing the swans go by.Visited August 2024Travelled with familyWritten 14 August 2024

This is a large beautiful beach with watersport, food and drinks available etc. Lounges cost around 10 euros for the day. Don't just stick to the beach though, there is a wonderful restaurant cookoonari, a great atmosphere, relaxed food and the best cheesecake.
The local supermarket has juice (Robinson) the only place we found for it.
The local bus was only 2 euros each to get all the way back to the town, it can get quite full but so worth it.

I visited that beach last week during my stay in Skiathos island. There is a long place surrounded by pine trees, about one mile, a lot of sunbeds and umbrelas, a few bars. Very nice place to spend your holiday catching tan. There is a bus from Skiathos harbour to Koukounaries beach, not expensive, 2 euros from start to the end.

Koukounariés on Skiathos must be one of Greece's most famous beaches, no wonder that today it is also one of the most crowded. It doesn't just have to do with the golden sand, which can be found elsewhere as well - let's say Mylopotas on Ios -, but because it is surrounded by umbrella pines ('Koukounari' in Greek), a tree not too common in the country, where the nice smelling, less impressive 'Pefko' (Aleppo Pine) is more prevalent around the coasts.
We came here by bus from Skiathos town in about 40 minutes, but had planned to just walk along the about 1km long Koukounaries and then continue on foot to the smaller and much less crowded Mandraki Beach.
The Koukounaries Beach is also known as 'Chryssi Ammos' (Golden Sand) and since the sand continues into the sea, it is easy to get into the water (there are plenty of promising sand beaches in Greece, where as soon you reach the water there are nothing but stones and rocks). Koukounaries is also very organized: cafés, restaurants, watersports, changing rooms, toilets, showers - all to be had.
Not all are aware that behind the sand and the umbrella pines comes a lagoon with an interesting vegetation and wildlife, today a protected biotope, thus good that not all the hustle and bustle of the beach flows into this serene nature.

This beach is at one end of the main bus line that runs along the southern part of the island. We were staying at the other end. The price and frequency of the buses was really impressive, making this beach accessible to all.
The beach was beautiful and despite it being popular, it still felt like there was enough space because it was long. Sunloungers were in good condition and reasonably priced and there were good places to buy food and drinks- I was particularly pleased that the water wasn't overpriced. The staff at these places seemed nice too, giving the whole area a friendly atmosphere. There were good toilets, regularly cleaned- and a wooden boardwalk at the back of the beach that made walking along it easy.
We were very happy we chose this beach among the many available on the island.

I was here with my girlfriend between 12-19 September 2020. The weather was good excepting a rainy day.
The beach is clean, there were barely any waves, also it gets deeper progressively. Ideal for chilling - sunbeds cost 10 eur/day and there are bars with refreshments as well.

Loved this beach lined with pine trees. Warm, clear sea where you see the fish and soft sand underfoot. It gets deep quite quickly but we felt safe at all times as life guards patrolling all the time. Comfortable sunbeds at 10 Euros and the bar/cafe within easy reach. It does get busy so get there early for a sunbed and on some days a cruise boat comes in with lots of tourists but they seemed to be having a good time so not a problem! As there is a nature reserve behind the beach the swans swim around and join us in the sea which is lovely and people enjoy feeding them.

Gorgeous Beach, crystal clear waters. Plenty of sunbeds for everyone. Really nice vibe! Prices depend on which row your bed is on €15 for 2 x umbrella near front and €10 for rows behind. All worth it! Plenty of bars for food and drink. 25 minutes on public bus from Skiathos Town - bus stop #26 - €4 return!!! Or take the water taxi back to Skiathos Town, this operates from near the water sports. We had a really lovely time and we will definitely go back next time.

What most of my Americans compatriots expect is the same level of service we expect for what we pay back home.
Here, after covid businesses are understaffed and workers are not slaves to the buck like home.
One must be patient for service and enjoy the beach, that is clean because there’s no entrance fee, but if you want an umbrella and beach chairs, it’ll cost you 10 euros for the day.
The smart bar is the andaluz bar, because they let you move chairs, and acomódate large groups, the one further up Barracuda lost our business because they refuse to put tables to accommodate us…see?, you try a different place and it works…..again, be patient and take the language difficulties and culture difference with a grain of salt

Great long, busy, beautiful beach with all that is needed - except quiet.
This is the longest beach in Skiathos that you can reach by car, bus (end station) or boat from the Old port (Capetan Nicolos - 6 euro for adults, 3 euros for children).
There are some spots between all the umbrellas (10 euros for one umbrella and two loungers) for the ones bringing their own umbrella and there are some beach bars/restaurants. There is also watersports, a small marina and at the very end of the beach the Elivi hotel has a beach bar with umbrellas and cabanas for rent even for non hotel guests. (20 euro for one umbrella and two loungers). There are also showers, changing rooms and a small playground.
The wanter is clear and the sand is wonderful. Close by you also have Ambelakia beach, Big Banana beach and Small Banana beach (nudist).

Hi I'm off to Skiathos next week (all being well!) It's been a couple of years, do the beach bars on Koukounaries take card for the sunbeds now? Thinking they might want to minimise cash handling?
