Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The castle is not fenced so you can go up any time and it's free. You have to clumber about a bit as it's mostly a ruin. There are great views over Paralio Astros though.

Dating to the 13th Century, the Paralio Astros Castle overlooks its namesake city, offering great views and the castle remains.

The castle is at the end of the road that climbs above the city. The road is often narrow and frequently quite steep. We cycled to it and had to walk our bikes on one occasion. The castle was "open" and unattended when we were there. Some interior portions of the castle are marked "do not enter" with ropes you can easily step over. There are some areas that are clearly on the treacherous side, including some ancient rock steps that probably lead to a shear drop. In fact, the grounds inside the castle offer many opportunities for you to stumble over something.

The road to the castle as well as the castle itself offer spectacular views of the city.

When we walked freely around the castle remains, there was no one else around.

If you are physicially fit, are not a personal fall risk and enjoy the thrill of exploring castle ruins, the Paralio Astros Castle is pretty cool.
