- Deanosaur89Edmonton, Canada8,617 contributionsGood Lookout in SantoriniSantorini is full of scenic lookouts over the sea and we enjoyed this one because we got it all to ourselves when we went in March. The walk down is a little bit tricky because it is slippery with loose rocks. The "heart" gives a cool view of the volcano through the hole. There are a few other things to lookout nearby like a small church (that was open when we went), a rock formation that looks like a rabbit, a cave and a windmill. We would recommend renting a car to get here if you're comfortable driving on the island because it can get too windy for a scooter. Make sure you wear good shoes here and watch your footing.Visited March 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 23 March 2024
- Claire S9 contributionsBeautiful spotWe were in Santorini for our wedding anniversary so I wanted to get a photo here! We found parking easily but it took us awhile to find the path to get down to the heart. It was further down than I expected but there were only a couple of people there so we didn't have to wait long. From the right angle it definitely does sitll look like a heart. The view is speculator! Definitely wear shoes with grip though.Visited June 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 17 June 2024
- Lauren W37 contributionsBeautiful place. The Heart of Santorini is a beautiful place. Simply ask the taxi to drop you off at Agios Nikolaos Church in Megalochori and it is easy to find from there. We visited for sunset and were lucky enough to watch the most beautiful sunset of our entire stay in Santorini from here.Visited July 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 2 August 2024

If you're in the area and have 30 minutes, check this place out. It takes 10 minutes to get to the church but an additional 20 get to the bottom and back. Pretty empty and great views from the bottom into the bay.

Beautiful location, advise travelling there by hire car/quad/scooter. Parking available. Quieter than expected when we went around 5/6pm. About 100m down some steps to the left of the car park. A little chaple further down

We were not able to locate the place at first try but did so when we went further down the steps on second try. Beautiful, peaceful place half way down the cliff… good shoes and stability required as there are no handles down the steps. Quite slippery so do be mindful. Worth the steps if you can get down there.
Very windy. Need a jacket.

Google map was able to point us to the parking lot above it. It’s not a marked lot. Only one small tour bus was there. Walking down can be a little slippery but after a short walk you can already see the rock.
Definately a nice place for a photo op.

We walked to the Heart of Santorini from megalochori village and it took us about 15mins. The small opening is a great place for photos, provides a great opportunity to take couple photos.
Other than that it does have steep steps which take you down to the base and lots of spots to take photos like at the Rabbit of Santorini or of the Plaka bay.
Would visit if you have the time, as it is a great location for couple photos, but not high on the list to need to visit for sure.

If it wasn’t for my tour guide I wouldn’t have known about this place! I’m so so glad he arranged an unscheduled stop here, it was one of my favourite areas on the island. It truly is stunning and worth the gravel pathway. No photos will do it justice it was truly a stunning place.

It's an easy pace 30 minute hike with good shoes to get to the lookout itself. It is part of an outcropping called Rabbit Rock because from a certain angle it looks like a rabbit from a certain angle. The view is absolutely breathtaking.
If you continue further down the path, you will get to the church of Agios Nikolaos that is built right into the caldera. Again, definitely worth the time to take in the view.
There is a flat area at the top of the trail that gets used as a parking space. The Μεταμόρφωση Χριστού church located on the main road there is a good landmark to spot the turn off the the parking area. There is also a trail to a restored old windmill, about 10 minutes away.

We stayed in Megalochori so decided to view the sunset from this spot in additional to Oia.
There were only about 10 people there to watch the sunset, which makes it more relaxed and pleasant. You don't get the view of Oia buildings but it's very nice nevertheless.
There is a small church nearby which makes for a nice backdrop.
