We were pleased to walk into the rainforest park area and thought it quite wise that people were encouraged to walk in, to avoid disturbing the tranquility. We were surprised after walking in about 3km and climbing the tower to find a group of birders with their guide, all having driven into the center in a bus. The forest is... More

This is at the top of the Pipeline road. Entrance is an outrageous $30 each. The trail system is extremely short. There is a tower, but we saw very few birds. There is an area where there are hummingbird feeders with many hummingbirds. Very little information is given out. We saw many more birds on the road leading up to... More

Amazing viewing options - and not just for birds. We went with a guide from Gamboa Tours. I highly recommend exploring with a guide. The are so good at spotting things you just would not see yourself. Watching the hummingbirds at the center was a relaxing and amusing way to end a morning of exploring. A highlight of the day... Great place to explore solo or with guides. Birding is outstanding. The canopy tower is best seen early in the day. Birds can appear out of the mists. The hummingbird centre was so fascinating that I wanted to stay longer. A Great Tinamou walked for several metres in front of me along the main road. Luckily, I saw a Vermiculated... More

We had a friend help us book a tour through Gamboa Tours. It was exactly what we wanted to see and do. A driver picked us up promptly at 8. Luckily, it was a national holiday and traffic was extremely non-existent. He gave us a guided tour as he drove us to the Gamboa Resort hotel. We waited about 10... More

If you want to understand about the native animals, nature, etc. this is a good place to go to. Sloths, butterflies, Leopard and some animals I have never even heard of are being shown.

We had a fantastic time at The Rainforest Discovery Centre made extra special by our guide Rolando Jordan. Before our trip Rolando asked what we would like to see and then emailed us a schedule with plenty of options and even reminded us to bring water, mosquito repellent, hat etc. He also checked that we didn't have any health issues... We walked pipeline road and saw a agouti, butterflies, dragonflies and very hard to spot birds. Nice walk though and then paid for rainforest centre. More of the same but with a giant tower. Three of us paid $60 for this and the trails. Not worth it.

The staff is wonderful at explaining the jungle and the animals. However, they did not tell to dress properly to avoid being attacked by the mosquitoes. Fortunately, we had lots of spray and covered ourselves thoroughly. Also, better hiking shoes would have helped instead of flip-flops!

We left Panama City at 5:30 a.m. and got to the Discovery Center within 30 mins. Mind you we have gone to the Pipeline Trail several times before so if it's your first time keep your eyes open for the minuscule signs on the way. We paid our entrance fee and went straight for the Tower and immediately saw and... More
