This is off the beaten path, but very unique and interesting. Climb to the top, where you too can take a picture just like this one and see views to the Ionian Sea...magnificent!

The only Byzantine church in Calabria. Very well preerved. If in town of Stilo - a must see - Just outside of the town on the hillside. Suggest you take car.

This is a really incredible former monastery to see in the picturesque town of Stilo. If you're exploring Calabria's sites don't miss this. Including incredible fresco paintings from the Byzantine Era, the Cattolica building is small but wonderful. Included is even some Islamic inscriptions from when the building was used by the region's Arabic ancestors.

This byzantine church is sooo amazing. It is very small inside but very beautiful. Well worth a visit. Stilo itself is a stunning town with the most amazing views. We spent the whole day exploring. A beautiful part of the world.

I travelled alone there during February 2014. This hamlet is so peaceful and the view is one of the most amazing that i ever seen before. Cattolica is a church where Tommaso Campanella made Stilo famous for his Scripts like "La Cittá del Sole - City of the Sun". I suggest to Travellers, Wanderers and fanatic of Arts to see... More

This is a jewel on the mountain. Yes it is a small road to arrive but well worth the visit. Make sure to leave a little something to support the church. No entrance fee.

Well worth a visit, easy to miss the turning off the main road opposite a ceramic tile shop. Large car park which is usually quite empty. Lovely cafe which does its own Bergamot ice cream and rustic antipasto. Defiantly worth stopping for something to eat and drink Enjoy the panoramic view before the short walk to the beautiful church. This tiny church contains Byzantine frescos. The colours are well preserved and show fantastic details. We walked up from the main road and up through the old town, and up past the chickens(you will see them!), to the main gates. Worth the visit, free entry and a great view walking back down the hill.
