If you are staying at the hotel, there is no charge for the walk up and around the gorge so tell the nice man that when you arrive. He told me that the round walk would take a good hour. I am pretty fit and to do the whole circle - not counting the monastery - took just under 1.5... More

We hiked up the gorge with both young children as well as teenagers. Everyone enjoyed it. Lots of stairs in the middle but worth the effort. After the creek ends (opens up) you can access the steam for a short dip of your feet. We then continued back through the forest who required an additional climb up (not too long,... More

We have climbed the gorge with our family including small children of 5 years old. The infrastructure allows perfectly for even them to go all the way. The views are stunning. The bridges and handhelds are well maintained and adapted. Sometimes a bit small to let each other pass, but this is part of the fun of course.

Definitely worth the visit. It's an easy and safe hike, though solid shoes recommended as there are rugged and wet stretches. At the end of the gorge, after you have a chance to cool off in the creek, as everywhere in Austria, there is a nice Gasthof that awaits you at the monastery on top of the hill.

We stayed in Innsbruck with a few hiking plans. This was chosen for easy transport (a 30 minutes train ride from Innsbruck hbf to Stans). Then a walk through sleepy town of Stans (we were early). €4.50 per person and enjoyed the hike through the gorge, climbed a"few" steps, crossed a few bridges, watched out for raspberries' bushes and enjoyed... We had heared about this gorge but never visited it. This your we put on our hiking boots, packed out backpacks with water, fruit and some things for the kids. We parked the car near the entrance which can easely be found in the town of stans. Paid a small fee for admission and followed the footpath stream upwards. After... More

For novice and profi's......It's a 1000 step trip...Be careful with small kids...Not accessible for wheelchairs or buggy's. But a good training....What a great country is Austria. I've been here several times, approx 10 times in the last 20 years.. Parking at the bottom.

The gorge has many waterfall and is a pleasant relief from the heat of summer. There are steps, but that does not mean that it is an easy walk. I wore sandals and regretted my decision because there is some rocky and slippery terrain inside and many places in the trail are quite wet. Parking is 4 euros for a... More

Great walk for good hikers. If you are not good with your health you gonna avoid this place. Please be sure you have hiking shoes because the wooden bridges and path are wet in the summer and icy in the winter time. You have to pay for the entrance and parking. So be sure you have some pocket money and... More
