The church was still open at 5pm and we looked at the amazing Norman carvings and gargoyles. It is on a summit looking over the valley and there is also a Motte and Bailey, which was a bit muddy.

Staying at the kilpeck inn, the owner mentioned that the church was worth a look. Decided to have a wander round & really enjoyed it. Liked the history bit in the graveyard which gave information about the church & village. Can also get to the castle through the back of the graveyard. Had a bit of a walk round but due to being very slippery decided not to climb up to the castle itself …

If you are in the area or just driving near by then it is worth the stop. As well as the lovely little church there is a coupleof walls still standing over the back from a destroyed castle.

This Norman church is a true treasure. My wife thought it was the best church we’ve visited. Very Romanesque, it’s far enough off the beaten track that you can visit in relative solitude. There was only one other couple there at the time of our visit which allowed me to soak of the peace and quiet while thinking of almost a 1000 years of worshipers who have attended services here. Highly recommended!…

After checking into the Kilpeck Inn for the night we took a stroll up to this lovely old Norman church. It is in a peaceful rural setting, near some castle ruins, with sheep grazing in the field behind. I recommend a visit if you are in the area.
