Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The place is just beautiful. Crystal clear water. Old water mills. Unfortunately they didn't work cause we head that you can buy stone milled flour

Nice to see and spend some time on the bench just enjoying nature, sound of water, green. Near is a little souvenir shop where you can buy souvenirs or some home made products

This place brings you to the past. Very charming and peaceful. Cold and clean water that hides unexpectedly deep spring.
We didn’t realize at first until our friends that explored the spring told us.
I wish we had more time to spend there.
Next time for sure.

Water power mill for making flour out of wheet, corn or rye, thanks to Jure Mayer is not jet forgotten. Located on the source of river Gacka which is one of the cleanest river in Europe.
Excellent place to visit and learn how flour it's made in the old way.
Maybe most usable ingredient in our diet is missing its healthiest component. Tray Mayer's integral flour and stay strong and healthy.

The source of the Gacka River is located approximately 12 km southeast of the town of Otočac. And this source is definitely worth a visit. By the way, this is just one of several sources of this river. The Gacka River runs partly underground. If you look closely at the relatively small water hole behind the water mills, you can see in one spot on the water surface that water is bubbling up from the ground. And that is an enormous amount of water, when you see how much water disappears into the river a little further under the water mills.
The water mills are also a special attraction here. These water mills date from 1915. In total there were 6 mills in a row. Grain was ground here and temporarily stored. Mainly wheat but also corn was milled for human consumption, as well as a grain mixture for animal feed. In the second half of the 20th century, the water mills fell into disrepair. Only at the beginning of this century were the watermills reconstructed after little more than the foundations remained. Now these mills are a little jewel again, a picturesque attraction open to visitors who want to take a look inside a historic watermill. In addition to these museum mills that can be visited for free, you will also find a very small shop, an ice cream man and picturesque houses. There are also a few restaurants and a handful of private accommodations in the area.
We stayed 2 nights in Otočac but we ate 2 evenings in the restaurant «Vrilo Gacke», about 3 km south of «Majerovo Vrilo. Here too, a source of the Gacka river arises, the «Tonkovicevo Vrilo». And in this restaurant you can eat excellently. That's why we came here two evenings in a row.

We have an opportunity to stay with people in Otocac. We will be coming from Krka National Park and then going to Plitivice lakes. Is Otocac on the way to Plitvice?
What is there to see or do in Otocac?
