Val di Funes is the name of a small valley in the western Dolomites. This place is very famous and popular. Tourists must not miss traveling to see the beauty.
Because there is a beautiful view of the backdrop of the stunning limestone mountains, the limestone peaks of the Odle/Geisler mountain range stand tall against the bright blue sky and are surrounded by mountains filled with pine forests in the foreground, giving dimension. of amazing images
And in front of you you will see the image of a white church on a wide green field dotted with flowers in the summer. This place to visit in the evening. The scenery is very romantic because the limestone mountain ranges are coated with the natural golden yellow color of the last light of the day, like a paradise you can't even touch.
The area of Val di Funes includes many small villages such as San Giacomo, Valluzza, San Valentino, Santa Maddalena, Colle, with San Pietro as the centre. But the village that stands out the most and is popular with travelers is Santa Maddalena because the houses in the village are beautiful, planted amidst wide fields. It is a very peaceful and cute little village full of charm. Every picture that you look at is It looks like a postcard of one of the cutest and most romantic places you can imagine.
It will also be the location of St. Maddalena Church, an old church. Built in 1394, located north of the village of Santa Maddalena, this small church enjoys a beautiful location on a hillside. From a distance you can see the church with the Odle/Geisler mountain range in the background.
And the Church of St. John of Nepomuk in Ranui is a strikingly beautiful church that will be a private church. (The owner of the Ranui Hof hotel was built right next to the church.) If you want to go see the church, you have to walk further to the Ranui Hof hotel and pay 4 euros to get through the barriers. But you can only admire the outside because the inside church is closed.
There are also many small hotels and resorts within this village. If you want to soak in and experience as much beauty as possible, it is recommended that you book accommodation here.
For those who want to visit this village, park your car in the parking lot that they have arranged nearby. Tourist Service Center Then walk in But it will be quite a long walk. Because walking there and back is about 4 km. But some travelers drive in, which local people are very dissatisfied with because they fear that Driving will cause damage to agricultural crops and grass planted to feed animals.

I would rather call the valley my second home, without being too modest.
When I drive up to St. Magdalena and the Geisler appear, my heart warms. I'm looking forward to it again this year. Now I'm even camping at the Hans Glacier.

This is the place that you must visit in the Dolomites, especially in the summer, even in the fall. I visit there in late October but it is still so green.
You can initially visit the visitor center to know some history about this place. You can also take photos here with the mountains behind.
Then I suggest drive to the Santa Maddalena Viewpoint. This is the best place to take photos with friends!
You can also visit Church of St. John. Although it costs 4 euros for the entry, the scene is amazing.

Very beautiful valley under the Odle, everyone writes it.
However, it presents some annoying aspects of fleecing tourists
Most striking example: paying to see the small church of San Giovanni in Ranui up close, which is also closed! You have to pay for parking + 4 euros to cross the gates that allow you to access the meadow where, listen, the cowherd, owner of the whole thing, has established a no-fly zone!! Drones prohibited!!
But can he do it??
Ridiculous is anyone who allows it

As a mountain girl ,I spend most of my time ,exploring the beauty of the mountains .A place where I mostly feel alive .A place of complete content .Which comes to say I am prepared for the grand beauty and freedom that the mountains normally offer to their fans .But I was quite not prepared enough for the beauty of Val Di Funes .Traveled by train from Trento to Bressanone Brixen and got the first glimpse of the edgy and Rocky Dolomites Mountains In Bolzano .With a bus 340 from the rail station ,where I was lucky to bump into a lovely German South Tyrollean man ,who enlightened me that the perfect place I was looking for was the valley of Santa Maddalena .By mistake I thought the best view was from San Pietro ,which made me walk ,surrounded by woods and hills for another 2 miles ,until the valley opened up in front of my eyes .The feeling is indescribable-the best moment in my life for this 2019 year .Somehow the place is intact and one can enjoy the natural sights without tripping into half of the population of USA,China,UK and Korea .A place I can’t wait to visit back again soonest -a paradise on Earth

This little pocket of northern Italy has to be seen to be believed. Nowhere I have been before has measured up to the serenity and beauty of this valley. Stunning scenery surrounds you from every angle and it is a peaceful and quiet little haven, not far from the madness of the main highway through the north of Italy. Come here to hike, tour around or just sit and stare at the mountains. You won't be disappointed.

Here we were at the most famous spot on the mountain Dolomites. We stayed at the apartment called Rithof on the narrow road SP163. What a right choice we got this famtastic view from our balcone. Then we took a car to see the Sant Maddalena church closely and went to hike near the Rifugio unfortunately we got a heavy rain so the hike was closed to end too soon. We will go there again.

Val di Funes is one of many beautiful valleys in South Tyrol area. The area is dominated with expanse green meadow with background of Puez Geissler Odle mountain. Lots of traditional South Tyrol timber houses decorated with beuatiful flowers, little churches up in the hill, cow farm and lots of hiking trail. We recommend to stay at this area rather than at expensive hotel in Ortisei or Val Gardena.

Hi. I am planning a trip this summer with my family (two kids: 5 & 6). We will rely on public transportation and limited car services to get around. Can anyone recommend where our home base should be for 5+ days so we can make the most of the region. Any tips for an itinerary?

We are planning to travel from Venice airport to val di Funes and alphe di Siusi by Car.Can anyone help us how to explore these above places.
Written 10 September 2019
The best and easiest way to travel in the area is by train .But sounds very convenient to use car as well .The roads are safe and marked ,having a map navigation will do . Venice to Vilnöss is about 2 and a half hours ,there are many atmospheric small villages on the way that you can visit .

Salve a tutti. Ci piace stare in albergo. Se dovesse piovere cosa si può fare? Insomma avrei bisogno di info a 360 gradi. Grazie a tutti

noi siamo stati molto bene presso Haus Tannenburg, a Santa Maddalena. Attenzione: Qui si respira un'aria montana, incontaminata. Nessun negozio, niente...solo lo splendore della natura. Non siamo ad Ortisei o Cortina.... PS Bressanone è a circa 30 minuti😀

Salve, vorrei sapere se in Val di Funes ci sono impianti di risalita nel periodo estivo?
Grazie

Nn ce n’è bisogno..... sei già in quota e i percorsi partono direttamente dai piccoli centri abitati

Hi
I would like to visit the beautiful mountain villages in Italy Val di funes and then head to Umbria.
I want to ask a few questions to visitors who travelled this part of Italy:
1. How long it would take to trek the Val di funes area? assuming 15km walk daily . Appreciate any particular beautiful place suggestion.
2. any public transport to nearest rail station?
Written 5 March 2018
Funes can be reached by public transport from Bressanone .. city and station + nearby.
It is beautiful and the right place to experience nature at rest.

Salve,

What's the best way to travel to/from the Val di Funes area? We'll be traveling by rail and it doesn't seem that there are any stops nearby.
