You get lots of offers for diving/surfing/ boat parachuting, but other than that its a lovely fun beach. If you are happy with a crowd no need to walk, just hop on the beach.and enjoy the sea. They have stronger currents and waves so just swimming or going in the sea can be exciting. If you walk along you can... More

Visited the beach several times. Didn't manage to have a surf as waves weren't around. Went snorkelling out to the reef that is at the right end of the beach about 100m out. Nice coral & fish around the reef. Local dive shops will hire snorkelling or scuba gear. Beach was quieter than Patong.

Went to the southern end of Kata beach with a group of friends for afternoon swim and to catch the sunset. Certainly much quieter than Patong. There are deck chairs available for rent. Lots of space to place our beach mat. The waves are stronger here which is also good to learn some surfing. Had a wonderful and peaceful time... More

A beautiful beach with sun beds for 200 Bhat and waves are not strong so can swim peacefully. Had some good quality time here.

This beach wasn't as lovely as hoped. We came to Kata to snorkel and quickly learned there is a severe that dumps right into the entrance of the ocean. The water smells like poop and isn't very clean. The snorkeling was pretty good, but very hard to see in the dirty water. The water and shore is also riddled with... More

We spent an afternoon at Kata Beach just to change the scenery from Karon Beach. The trip from Karon to Kata was 200THB by taxi and it took about 5 minutes. Kata Beach is less touristy and more private than Karon and Patong. The sea is very calm and there are practically no waves so you can enjoy a peaceful... More

The north end of beach has a canal draining into the beach lagoon. Follow it back to town and you will find the smelliest most disgusting open sewer, including Club Med's "treatment" plant. The ocean water looks clean but I don't no why. I found this the second day of my seven day vacation and never went back in the... More
