This is one of the unique view dam which you looking form the 60 feet high tower with revolving platform. The view is awesome! You enjoy blue-shaded water with huge sky! This dam have 4.2 km long wall! That was Unforgettable moment in my life!

I personally liked the area of the damn. Entry fee is negligible. You have access to viewing revolving gallery from which you can look at the damn and areas around. They have beautiful garden at the base. It is a very well maintained and clean place.

It is the major attraction of Sambalpur . There is a good view of the dam from the tower which can't be missed by any one there is a canteen also I even enjoyed food at top of tower. No one is allowed to go on to the dam except with police permission . Old people find it difficult to... More

Hirakud dam is situaded in sambalpur town. This dam is the largest dam in india. The length of the dam is 4800 meter. In which 3600 meter is made by earth and remaining 1200 meter is concreate. Hirakud Dam built across the Mahanadi River, about 15km from sambalpur. It is the longest major earthen dam in Asia, measuring 25.8 km including dykes and stands across the Mahanadi river. Awesome place to visit...

Less scenic but more historical place.. Asia's one of the longest dam.. Can view the whole length of the dam by two opposite towers.. 2 dykes spreading over 12 kilometers always enhance the traveling experience.. There is a sanctuary (Debrigarh sanctuary) also present at the end of the right dyke. Worth traveling

Its a great dam with a big reservoir. One of the biggest dam. The view from rorating Gandhi Minar is beautiful. A must visit place.

It is one of the biggest dam of Asia and surrounded by beautiful forest, only approach road is not very good, govt can make it a very good tourist place.
