There’s not many places I have been where the warm welcome has been instant and genuine. Pauline behind the bar is entertaining and funny, it was lovey talking to the locals - all keen for a chat. We visited this friendly pub on a Friday night and Saturday early evening. The weather was glorious and you could sit outside across the road on a table with your drinks. The Fyne Ales were very good indeed, the bar staff very attentive and the packets of Scampi Fries took me back a few years! Giving away a free artist’s impression postcard of the pub was a nice touch too. Thanks everyone involved in the Community Pub.

A fantastic little community run pub which is run friendly and professional staff. Located on the shores of the Clyde it provides event nights, craft beers and spirits, both local and imported at very affordable prices. I would totally recommend a visit you wont be disappointed

Having recently reopened, as a community bar, the Anchor Tavern is a fantastic stop after a day out on Bute. It was sorely missed last year but having the option to pop in for a drink at the end of the day is wonderful. And with friendly and welcoming bar staff, it’s so nice and puts you at ease immediately.
It is great to see how quickly they have started to offer different evenings; karaoke, quiz night and so much more. Yet even with all this going on, you can simply sit back and enjoy your drinks.
Most definitely recommended if you are passing through the port or staying close by, and you would be supporting to maintain the community spirit.

Spent a few days on Bute in the first week in August, which we do regularly. Have been in all the pubs in Rothesay many times but on the 5th August we decided to go and try somewhere we'd never been, The Anchor in Port Banantyne.
We went out expecting a small quiet village pub but what we got turned out to be one of the most fun filled nights ever ! There was a guy with specs playing an electric guitar. All very good and highly entertaining, but one thing i'd never seen in my life was a small pub full of people dancing like we were in a 1970s nightclub ! I don't dance, ever, but both of us got dragged up to dance by enthusiastic locals and pretty much danced like eejits all night. Only thing wrong was that it all finished too soon. What a night. Will be back for certain, despite feeling 'a little tired' the next day.
A 5*****, if unexpected, experience.

Pub was well prepared with sanitiser and spacing of seats.
No hand pulled beer but Guinness was excellent, my pals had bottled Bishops Finger and fraught Guinness pale ale.
No crisps but other snacks .
Friendly and talkative locals. Make sure you support the only pub in the Port

We were visiting family and decided to go to The Anchor for a few drinks, so delighted to find that it is dog friendly and the staff were very welcoming.
Great community pub, lots of seating and comfortable too.
It was supposed to close at 22:30 but the bar staff (sorry I didn’t catch the ladies name) were more than happy to stay open.
A great asset to the area - here’s to it having great success and we will definitely be back!
