Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Got the bus up from Rothesay because we'd heard about this community owned pub so thought we would check it out. (Saturday 23rd of September)
Not sure what it's like normally, I assume its a sleepy little village pub, but it wasn't on Saturday ! A guy was singing and playing guitar and when that started, the place transformed from a fairly busy but quiet pub to the set of top of the pops. The whole pub was up dancing around and the atmosphere was amazing and something i've never witnessed before.. Sadly had to leave before it all finished to get the last bus back to Rothesay but will be back for sure.

Was on the Island for a few nights and had read the reviews for the Anchor ⚓
My wife & I and our black Lab 🐶 ended up going in on each of the three nights we were there.
Really friendly pub, with as many locals as holiday makers. Everyone was made welcome -esp dogos' 🐶- Great selection of beers and spirits, in a cosy atmosphere.
Overall a real sense of pride by the locals for this, their community run bar.

Spent a few days on Bute in the first week in August, which we do regularly. Have been in all the pubs in Rothesay many times but on the 5th August we decided to go and try somewhere we'd never been, The Anchor in Port Banantyne.
We went out expecting a small quiet village pub but what we got turned out to be one of the most fun filled nights ever ! There was a guy with specs playing an electric guitar. All very good and highly entertaining, but one thing i'd never seen in my life was a small pub full of people dancing like we were in a 1970s nightclub ! I don't dance, ever, but both of us got dragged up to dance by enthusiastic locals and pretty much danced like eejits all night. Only thing wrong was that it all finished too soon. What a night. Will be back for certain, despite feeling 'a little tired' the next day.
A 5*****, if unexpected, experience.

We visited this friendly pub on a Friday night and Saturday early evening. The weather was glorious and you could sit outside across the road on a table with your drinks. The Fyne Ales were very good indeed, the bar staff very attentive and the packets of Scampi Fries took me back a few years! Giving away a free artist’s impression postcard of the pub was a nice touch too. Thanks everyone involved in the Community Pub.

Super community run pub, with excellent beer, great atmosphere and absolutely spotless bathroom facilities.
Option to order takeaway meal for delivery, to eat in the bar...a fantastic option after a day sailing, cycling or walking.
