Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The façade of the church looks just like any old church but upon venturing inside you will be treated with beautiful paintings on the ceiling. Almost wasn't able to view as we went here past 7pm from Kota Park viewing the sunset. The front door was already closed but luckily it was accessible by the side gate. Renovations or cleaning were being done while we visited. A must see when visiting Bantayan Island

we were just in the area doing our routine inspection when we passed by this Church.
the exterior is just like any other Cathedral i've been to. nothing extraordinary. i just felt the compulsion to pay a visit and say a little prayer of thanks. and when i stepped inside, lo and behold! i was mesmerised by the magnificent ceiling which was covered in paintings depicting stories from the Bible. must have taken several artists and long months before the whole area were done. it is truly a great work of art.

when you have the chance, make time to visit this place of worship. not only it is an eye candy, it's also a peace haven. very soothing for the soul.

Bantayan town does not have much to visit but the church is an oasis of calm. The amazing ceiling paintings and its history as providing a refuge for local people when pirates visited make it an intriguing place. We took a normal shared tuk tuk from Santa Fe to Bantayan for 30 pesos each.

It is an old church newly renovated.
It is across the Philippine (Aglipay) Independent Church.
They are planning to have the ceiling paintings. They have divided the ceiling to squares. They published a coffee table book to finance the painting.

We left our resort in Sta Fe almost 5pm , we just wanted to visit the church and light candles ( something we practice everytime we visit a new church) and whisper our prayers. From the resort to the highway to get a trimotor it was 20 pesos per head. from the highway to Bantayan where the church was , was another 30 pesos per head for a 30 minute ride. WE arrived during the evening angelus prayers and luckily the old caretaker allowed us to get some quick shots on our phone cameras before he closed the church doors. the ceiling mosaics was beautiful, the altar where the retablos were , was also beautiful. The church just like the old churches in the different provinces of the Philippines is a treasure to behold. Lets all hope it remains preserved and cared for.

The repair and renovation after the destruction of Super Typhoon Yolanda destroyed the roof of one of the oldest churches in the Philippines is nearly completed. The ceiling murals done by local Cebu artists are a must see and would rival anything to be found in Europe. A must visit

Beautiful church with nice decoration on the ceiling. Birds enter and exit the church all the time and there are even bats living in the church. Loved it !!!
