About
Every morning we begin the process of brewing with a spring in our step and commence each brew by mashing in with our local Cotswold water. We hand pick only the finest raw ingredients to complement our unique strain of yeast that has remained the same since we started brewing, to produce the well balanced flavours that characterise the beer we’re famous for. With years of dedication to our craft and a brotherhood of brewers who pass down their knowledge through the generations, keeping our secrets and developing the recipes first written on parchment or whispered in hushed reverence, we create contemporary beers with a wealth of tradition.

They do Groupon deals which are great value. You get to try over half a pint twice before the tour and then get to see how it's all made. Then back to the shop for more beer tasting. Cheers

Took my step-dad in here as he loves ale but does not know what he wants half the time. They let us try everything to ensure he bought the right box! It was brilliant!

Tried the new beer "standup" ,(pun based on the use of the jester hops).
Excellent addition to the Wickwar range and perfect for the coming summer. Highly recommended

We had a wonderful time listening to knowledgeable enthusiasts of their local produced beers and thoroughly enjoyed our tour of the brewery. Definitely return here.

I knew the BOB was an excellent beer to have when my son and son-in-law came for Christmas in previous years and so ordered again. Unfortunately Wickwar and me were initially let down by delivery. However, all was well as a second consignment arrived in plenty of time before the drinkers arrival. Superb customer service - friendly and I will not say anything about the surprise bonus, and bonus it was, I'm drinking it now. Once again "Thank You".

We went on the tour last Saturday morning. At first we wondered if we had come to the right place as it looked like a garage from the outside, but that is only where you meet to have your drinks. It is a basic tour but the amount of tasting ales you get more than makes up for it and after 2 hours you get to know everyone in the building. We really enjoyed the laid back, personal approach without the over the top H&S or sales pitch (as there is on many other tours) and would recommend to anyone who enjoys real ales (Bob is our favourite). My Dad loved it and had a wobble on by the end of it. Excellent value for money!

Just travelling past when the brewery came into view and being a real ale lover my husband turned round and back we went.
Really interesting place and apparently the beer was top notch!

My wife and I really enjoyed our interesting and informative tour round the brewery. Although it was cold when we undertook the tour, the highlight was the friendly atmosphere in the tasting shack across the road from the actual brewery. Lots of really enjoyable Wickwar beers to enjoy. If arriving in the cooler months, bring a coat, although heating is provided!

The Wickwar brewery tour should be avoided. It is not valve for money and extremely disappointing.

The ‘tour’ consists of first visiting their ‘shop’ where you can sample some beer. The shop is in fact a very dirty, disorderly shed that on a cold day is freezing and damp. The amount of clutter, chaos and filth makes you feel like you’ve stepped into your uncle’s garden shed where he’s brewing some home brew!

The beers themselves are good but because they are served from the barrel in the shed they are not at their best. I went on a cold day in February so the beers were all too cold to enjoy properly.

The tour continues with a brief history lesson on the brewery, which is interesting but would benefit from a presentation with images of the people and buildings described to add to the story.

Attendees then cross the road to look inside the brewery itself. The information provided is very basic and frankly dull. The tour of the brewery itself lasts no more than 15 minutes. The brewery, like the shop, is rustic and pretty filthy. The large tanks were covered in dust and hand prints could be seen in the dust.

The owners of Wickwar should attend another brewery tour to see how it should be done. I’d recommend Wye Valley Brewery who’s tour is excellent.

HI Edfud, We are so sorry you didn't enjoy our tour. Most attendees enjoy the 'rustic' nature of the tour and really relish in visiting the historic buildings our brewery and shop are situated within. This is reflected in our over 90% 'Excellent' rating on Trip Advisor. I can assure you serving beer straight out of the cask, is to ensure you'll get to taste the freshest and brightest beer of your life. It really is the best way to serve cask ale. It is a shame that we cannot control the weather and you felt it was too cold. Our owners frequently attend the tour and they think it's fantastic. We can assure you that our hygiene processes are to the highest standard. As you can imagine, it's hard to keep a building built in 1860 free from any dust at all, however, our Head Brewer attends to the Brewhouse 7 days a week to make sure it is spotless. Our tours last for 2 hours, not 15 minutes. I'd love to hear how Wye Valley Brewery runs their tours, so if you'd like to discuss this with me please send us your number. Kind Regards, Abi

My Wife bought this as a birthday present and it was very informative and thoroughly enjoyable.

Our host was excellent and clearly knew his stuff. As a previous reviewer has said, it's split into 2 parts. The 1st was about the history and the second about the brewing process. This was separated by the time allowed to sample the excellent Ales.

Did I go away with a few bottles from their shop, of course I did!

My wife wanted me to mention, that Sue in the Office was very helpful during the booking process.

Very enjoyable and highly recommended.
