Top notch - best museum of the area round Ypres

We had visited the In Flanders Fileds museum and the Hooge Crater museum previously. Both were very good but this one topped them both. Memorial Museum Passchendaele 1917 is situated in a rebuilt chateau in Zonnebeke. It is well laid out with lots of exhibits and lots of information although signposting which way to go in some areas would have... More

Some museums can be hard going but not this one. It's very informative and well set out. You just follow it through to see everything. Bunkers and trenches expertly re-created in the grounds and included in the entry fee. Unsurprisingly though the cafe was shut.

A really interesting, well presented museum with very many well presented exhibits, including underground shelter complex and the short film on the 3rd Ypres Battle, which is on a continuous loop. Most informative & poignant; very good value & definitely worth visiting.

With only a day to tour the Ypres Salient and an impatient teenager in tow, we opted to tour this museum instead of the larger WWI museum in Ypres. It's idyllically located in a beautiful park, inside a chalet type country house that survived WWI. You will see the setting in a whole new light when you realize what this... More

My family and I visited this Museum on our vacation in Belgium. I think this is one of the better war museums I have been to - it is informative and well planned out. I read books on the battles of Ypres before my visit and still there was information at this museum that I did not know. Also, the... More

If you only have time to go to one museum on WW1 make it this one. Good timeline of events, informative and immersive. The dugouts and trenches enabled you to begin to imagine the lives of the soldiers. Would highly recommend.

This is a must, it takes 3 hours to go round everything, but is so well done and a credit to the War Graves Commission.

An excellent visit with a myriad of ways to discover a very emotional subject. A young teenager was kept interested in the weaponry and equipment displays whilst us parents could immerse ourselves in the historical developments. The trench reconstructions are excellent and took on a realistic feel as we explored in the pouring rain. A small, but poignant gift shop... More

I recommend this museum to anyone interested in WW1, especially the terrible slaughter of Passchendale. It does not duplicate the In Flanders Fields Museum in Ypres significantly, in fact they are quite complementary. Walking around the bunker and reconstructed trenches outside, you get a much better idea of the scale of things. There is also an excellent small exhibition about... More
