Visitor center with modern architecture. The exhibition focuses on information about environment, climate, nature on the island and local industry, reflecting the activity in the center`s research department. Learn about the species of the Runde bird cliffs. The famous Runde treasure from the 1725 Akerendam shipwreck is an important part of the exhibition. Ocean energy and wave power are also important elements.

Great display of taxidermy birds on the second floor. Good little cafe downstairs...the ONLY place to get food on Runde. If they're not open you're out of luck! They have rental apartments with nice views of the water. Showers if you need them!

Today, I was lucky to be part of the Ålesund Guide group visiting this location, what a great presentation. Runde is for bird lovers, especially the Puffin. But this location is a good starting point, and also has apartments for rent.

This is a very nice centre at the end of the world to get some information and refreshment before climbing the cliff to see those gracious little birds. Don't forget binoculars. It closes at 17h, this is the only drawback.
