A great place
Apr 2021
This vast, pebble beach is a great place for getting out into the outdoors. Unfortunately, being pebbles, it's hard on the feet when walking and not pushchair or wheelchair friendly. Fortuantely, there is a grass path at the back of the beach which, although not that wide, provides a better surface to walk on. There is some parking available on the road to Winchelsea but this can get very busy. Apart from the beach itself there are no other faciluities.

Morning walk
Oct 2020
First visit. Beautiful beach. I would recommend a walk to blow away the cobwebs and help with any stressful feelings during this difficult. Just felt so positive after our visit.

Amazing
Sep 2020 • Couples
Pett level is a beautiful place - even more so it has an excellent beach. Some sand but mostly Pebbles and gorgeous cliff rocks. You need wellies! Good for crabbing. There are no facilities other than the cafe but if you're a true traveller that shouldn't matter - just be prepared before hand. One thing to note - you have to be a very good driver with a stealthy car ideally to get there because the hills are something else!

Large, quiet, pebbly beach
Aug 2020
This is a lovely, wide beach that's usually nearly empty. There may be mud holes when you walk with the tide out but I've been going every year since the 80's as a child and now with my own children and we've never come across any. I'd still be careful as this is the seaside, not a swimming pool and it can be unpredictable.

There are some toilets a short walk from the beach in the village. You can walk from Pett Level along the shore to Hastings if you time it right with the tide. Or to a nudist beach in Fairlight. There is car parking along the road but it's busy at the moment because of covid.

The sea is warm in August and calm as a lake or wild and exciting. We love it.

Huge stony beach, no buildings plenty of space
Aug 2020 • Couples
We visited on a hot August day when there were hundreds of cars. However, the road and the beach go on for miles and it wasn't hard to find a free parking space. The beach is very long so even though there were lots of people it didn't seem at all crowded. The beach is stony until the tide goes out when miles of sand and rock pools are exposed. As others have mentioned care needs to be taken as some of the sand is quicksand and you do sink in. Also some of the rocks are very slippery. The tide turns quite quickly and it's easy to see how people could get cut off. My wife and I walked along the path which is up on a bank between the beach and the road. Coutryside on one side, the sea on the other. We didn't see any of the dog or hunan excrement referred to in other reviews and indeed the beach seemed very clean. We spent a very enjoyable few hours here - the fact nearby Camber Sands had closed as there were so many people there made it even more enjoyable.

A vast expans of open sky
Sep 2020
A sunny, Friday afternoon and an empty beach! Although, it's shingle (and not that friendly for wheelchair and pushchair users), once on the beach there is just a vast expanse of open sky. There's a narrow track at the back (if you don't want to walk on the shingle) but, as the road where you park is below the level of the beach, the only way, unfortunately, to reach the beach is by means of steep, concrete steps.

Lovely pebble beach
Aug 2020 • Family
Lovely pebble beach next to the main road to pett. Lovely views of the surrounding clifts and sea. Plenty of rock pools for kids to look for crabs in. HOWEVER, BE VERY CAREFUL! at lower tides a lot of dangerous quicksand is near the sea. Looks exactly the same as other, stable sand. No warning on signs near entrance so could be extremely dangerous is caught unaware.

Mud holes & falling rocks
Aug 2020 • Family
Please be aware that there are several hazards at Pett Level . The mud holes are dangerous and difficult to see you can sink quite easily . The bay has falling rocks . Do watch the kids or go to camber where there are life guards as none here . No facilities whatsoever ... boring
Parking was a nightmare too

Dirty beach
Jun 2020 • Family
Trips to this beach are to be avoided very dirty beach poor access dangerous rip tides / mud holes that swallow you up fast incoming tide which cuts you off from the main beach so quickly.
And human / dog poo every where to be avoided at all costs
No life guards or shops better off going to camber sands
