About
Situated in sixteen acres of historic walled and landscaped gardens, Wentworth Garden Centre is arguably the biggest and most attractive centre in the North Midlands. Its setting, in the former Kitchen, Italian and Japanese gardens of Wentworth Woodhouse is unique. We are not a member of any buying group or garden centre chain. We are a long standing, family owned independent and as such care passionately about our customers and their satisfaction. It's a policy that has seen the centre evolve from a tiny village operation into one of the largest garden centres in Yorkshire today.

    Lovely but cafe frustrating
We visit regularly. It’s a lovely garden centre. A bit pricy but nice. The cafe is really good but it drives me mad it’s so disorganised with no process flow ! Whenever you go it’s really busy que out the door and it sooooo slow !! Total bottle neck at the top. One person ordering food .. I literally want to reorganise it myself !! Drives me crazy but the food is nice Just a nightmare getting it ! They seriously need to look at where it’s going wrong

    Lovely afternoon out..
Never been here before, and was pleasantly surprised. The place is like a tardis , every room led into another, all with lovely gift items. The plants were healthy looking, and although not cheap actually looked as though they would live once I got them home! I was extremely impressed with the man in the aquatics department who talked me through the requirements for buying fish. It’s great to see someone taking animal welfare so seriously. One slight issue.. we queued in the cafe and ordered a bacon sandwich, and were told we had to queue again at a different counter which appeared to sell the same thing. Maybe clearer signage to avoid confusion? Overall… spotlessly clean, and a lovely way to spend an afternoon.

Good day out for families of any age.
While visiting family in the UK we took my elderly mother and adult son along to the garden center and cafe for lunch. We had a walk around the gardens, whom my mother of 91 found it easy to walk through. There is a wide range of plants but some seemed a bit on the expensive side. We had lunch in the cafe, which was very busy; but it was a Sunday lunch time. They have a wide range of meals from snacks, sandwiches and full meals. Quite a good children's menu too. My mother ordered off the kids menu and it was still a good size portion. The staff were very friendly, efficient and helpful. The shop has lots of nice goods and a large Christmas section at the moment. These also seem on the expensive side but if you are looking for a special gift a little bit different it might be worth a look. Would love to go back in the spring or summer when there are more flowers in bloom in the garden.

    Amazing!
Visited to for some new Christmas decorations and wow I could have bought them all! Absolutely amazing choice with the most beautiful little trinkets and ornaments. Some may say they are a little pricey but it’s once a year and you use them year after year! Less than a cup of coffee and how many times a week do we pay for that! Absolutely wonderful winter wonderland! Love this place!

    Lovely gardens
Having a weekend to myself and called here to visit the gardens as part of the RHS Partner garden scheme. The gardens are quite small but there is plenty to look at, and there were some deer too. Afterwards I called at the cafe for a late lunch. Its usually very busy there but as it was late it wasn't too bad, and the lunch was delicious

    Loved the Gardens
Wandered into the gardens after eating and paid the small charge to enter the maze / walled area. Was in the middle of winter but I can imagine beautiful in warmer weather when in full bloom. Some lovely features and thoroughly enjoyed a wander and an explore.

Fabulous garden centre, excellent quality plants.
One of the best garden centres I have visited. I was in Sheffield for a long weekend visiting family but had a morning to myself to fill. Was a pleasure to find this place. I spent 1-2 hours here but could have spent a lot longer. I would recommend viewing the indoor plant shop before the outdoor ones. Outdoors is the first plant area you come to when entering from the car park but you will want a trolley for your purchases and not want to push it round the whole place. There is a cafe with toilets. Looks very pleasant and was very busy. More outdoor places to explore than I had time for. Garden pots. Indoor plants - beautfiul variety of orchids and lots of variety of plants for terrariums. Garden furniture, large variety of goods in the shop. I got lost a couple of times couldn't find the shop exit. Might need a few obvious signs adding to the shop. Fabulous variety of outdoor plants arranged in alpha order on the walk from the entrance. I started off walking without a basket then quickly progressed from basket to trolley and was only limited by the amount of space in my car boot. Excellent quality plants and all except 1 already planted as soon as I returned home. Plenty of parking although I arrived around 10:30 am to find 3/4 of car park already full. There were a couple of market stalls outside the entrance, fruit and veg in one, fudge and candy in another. Would definitely recommend and go again.

Visited cafe 27/01/2024 for breakfast. The bacon sandwich was average and the poached eggs on burnt toast were like boiled eggs on toast. Grossly overpriced and the cafe has an echo like an airport terminsl.

I normally love coming to wentworth cafe with my children for food and to take away a sweet treat, however after my experience last week that won’t be happening again.
Whilst half way through eating my jacket potato I noticed something crawling out of my side salad (which I’d already ate half of!) when I opened up the piece of lettuce there was a bug with lots of small bugs crawling around it!! This obviously means they are not washing the salad properly or at all!
The young lady I called over to tell you could tell was mortified, she took it away and said she would go and speak to her manager. She came back and asked if I wanted another one or a refund - I obviously walked away feeling sick with a refund. However, with their reputation and paying nearly £10 for a jacket potato I would have expected the manager to come and apologise and explain how this had happened. I’m guessing as it was busy they didn’t want to draw attention to it, however I left very disappointed!!

Having looked on Wentworth Garden Centre website last night and it stating that it was dog friendly we decided this morning to have a drive over. The drive over was in actual 25 miles one way and was very disappointed that when we went into the Gift Shop etc we were told that dogs were not allowed in there so all we could do was walk round to the dog conservatory for a coffee and as it was raining and there wasn’t really anything else we could do but drive home again. So, a very disappointing 50 mile round trip.
