Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The Alaverdi Monastery with its Georgian Orthodox church, initially built in the 6th century was quite interesting. The fact that traditional white and red qvevri wines are still being produced in its grounds goes to show the important role wine and wine production has played and still plays in Georgia. The actual Cathedral is said to have been built in the 11th century.

Alaverdi is one of the first monasteries established in Georgia in VI century. The Cathedral was built later in XI. Currently this is an Abbey and one of the key centres of Georgian Orthodox church. Medieval winery was recently restored and very small amount of monastery wine is produced. For locals this is one of the most sacred locations. Soon an archaeological museum to be opened in the Monastery.

Alaverdi monastery is an atmospheric monastery complex. Women must wear skirts to enter the cathedral. Wrap around skirts that could be worn over pants were available to borrow at the entrance to the grounds. No photos are allowed inside the cathedral. When we were there in mid May, the women’s toilet was the filthiest public toilet I have ever seen.
