Carew Castle and Tidal Mill’s rich history spans over 2,000 years and tells of knights of the realm, kingmakers, Elizabethan intrigue and Civil War devastation. Set in a stunning location overlooking a 23-acre Millpond, the Castle is one of the most architecturally diverse in Wales; from the west a Norman fortress, yet from the north a splendid Elizabethan mansion. The site also incorporates the only restored Tidal Mill in Wales, an 11th century Celtic cross, a Medieval bridge and picnic area all linked by a mile-long circular walk, suitable for buggies and wheelchairs, with magnificent views over the Millpond.

No time to go inside either property, but a pleasant walk from car-park, and interesting to work out how tide-mill worked, especially at low tide when outflows clearly visible amongst the mud-flats (pretty straight-forward really!)

We spent an interesting few hours here, our daughter loved the 'Knight School' having a go at Archery and sword fighting, being presented a certificate at the end. We thought there was a self guided audio tour but could see no-one else with it and...More

While this castle is ok and had its own story this is not my favorite in this area. On a positive note I did find parking much easier at this castle.

Carew castle is beautiful but short lived. We're in and out within 20mins. The grounds was fantastic to walk & beautiful scenery. Good to walk the dog.

Enjoyed this castle but was a bit commercial for us.... Castle was confusing with all the mixed renovations and the grounds were not as well kept as other castles in the area.

A lot more to see than in most ruin settings and all very interesting. There appeared to be a lot going on for children with staff dressed up and training them to become knights!

Nice castle to walk around and looks impressive viewed from the tidal mill which is also included in the very reasonable £5 entrance fee. A few info boards explain the history of the castle and the people who lived there which was good.

It was raining in saundersfoot, so went for a bus ride. Easy to spot the ruined castle from the bus. Typical ruined castle with lots of books and crannies, stone steps, and battlements. I tried out the archery and managed to hit the target! There...More

Never visited before despite coming to Tenby on many occasions - good value for an afternoon or half day visit with children.

A lot of the Castle and grounds are outdoor but a significant amount of the Castle is undercover. The Tidal Mill is all indoor, there is a short 10 minute walk to get from the Castle to the Mill.

We do not currently have a café on site, we hope to open one for the 2018 season. However, there is a small tea room near the Mill that opens in school holidays and the Carew Inn just across the road from the Castle and... More

It currently costs £4.00 per adult to visit the Castle. From 25th March it will be £5.50 which includes both the Castle and Mill.
