Epic views
Jul 2020 • Family
Great hike worth the epic views! There is a washroom at the start and a small cafe when your done the hike in town, just ring the bell and someone will come out. After a windy wet day a hot coffee is amazing. They take debit too! The hike was moderate and you need the proper gear on. It’s steep to get the epic photos and windy! We took the first ferry over from Klaksvík at 0800hrs and and we were first ones on the island and had trail to ourselves, when we were back down at 1000hrs there were 8 cars arriving with people, so go early it’s worth it!

You have to go
Jul 2020
The village where the hike starts is not much to see, but the hike itself is relatively short (less than an hour). The view and feeling you get when arriving at the top by the lighthouse is amazing. Steep cliffs, different green colours of grass, moss mixed with yellow and purple flowers - just lovely! But remember good shoes, clothes for windy weather and willingness to walk uphill for a while

Amazing!
Aug 2019
Despite being well traveled to and Instagrammed to death, when the lighting is right it is still a remarkable spot. From the northern end you can see the tips of many of the islands in Faroe lined up, giving you a feeling that you’re at the edge of the known world. Take the first boat or spend the previous night on Kalsoy to avoid the big crowds that seem to come around 10 or 11 as they take the mid-morning ferry over.

A word of warning that most visitors seem to leave around the same time and try to get on board the first after return ferry, which was full as it can only take around 15 cars. If you miss that ferry you have a one hour wait for the next one.

Not an easy trek but the view was worth it
Sep 2019
It was not an easy trek as it’s narrow so you got to slant yr legs to walk.but when you reach the TOP,oh my god the view was totally awesome . Everywhere was so pretty . U can see mountains, sea and even islands. If you are daring enough, u can go trek to the edge and see more beautiful stuff

Fantastic!
Sep 2019 • Couples
It is required by law to use a guide to go to the lighthouse now. Well worth it! Johannes's family has owned this land for many generations and he has wonderful stories to tell! Make sure you book it on hiking.fo ahead of time and get to the ferry early if you are driving on.

More than just a lighthouse!
Aug 2019
This hike is something special. Well, more so the what you hike to than the hike itself. You start next to a quaint little village right next to the sea and work your way up some hills for about 45 minutes before arriving at the lighthouse and some absolutely jaw dropping views in every direction. Some of the best views are on the little path just beyond the lighthouse...it looks like a sketchy path but wow! If you're up here on a semi clear day you can see many of the Faroes. It's truly an otherworldly landscape.

For those wondering, you need to take a ferry from the port in Klaksvik and then drive all the way to the northside of the island on the one road they have. Take care in the one way tunnels! The cost of the ferry was 200 dkk round trip to bring a car and a passenger. Bring snacks for the island because you won't find much!

Nice and easy hike
Apr 2019 • Couples
You can park your car in the small village and make your way up the hill through a red gate. It is sometimes quite steep but if you are used to hiking it shouldn't be a problem at all to make this hike. Takes you about 3 hours return. Landscape is beautiful. Lovely nature and the only things you can hear is the ocean, the sheeps and yourself. Very peaceful. Worth the drive to the island. You only get there by ferry by the way.

MUST SEE!
Aug 2018 • Family
Well this was i guess the most spectacular sight! We drove to Trollanes, parked there, used the toilet free of charge and went up - through the red gate. We walked the sheep trails alongside and up and up...really fantastic scenery - many sheep and a bit slippery, be sure to wear good shoes/soles! Then we could see the lighthouse after a while - and when you are almost there - you look to your left; you will gasp for air! It is so worth it to go up there! We went all the way passing the edge. We walked really slowly and had many stops - perhaps 3 hours all together.

Beautiful view, ever changing with the weather
May 2018 • Solo
The hike out to Kallur Lighthouse from the car park at Trollanes takes about 45 minutes each way. People should be cautious in poor conditions due to steep cliffs near the lighthouse. The weather is very changeable and part of the view was obstructed by cloud when I visited, but it is a very dramatic and beautiful location.
