Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The beach does not have a good structure for tourists. There are traders who operate the place and have sales stalls, but don't be fooled, if you sit down you will either have to pay a fee of 80 reais or consume an extremely expensive portion, which leaves a lot to be desired. Don't be fooled by the history of the place.

The beach is beautiful.. But the locals are destroying this beauty.. When walking through the streets and sands of Itapuã you constantly smell a strong smell of urine.. Trash spread everywhere.. And you can't walk along the beach. Because it's filled with tents, chairs and umbrellas with people harassing you every minute... Pure disappointment...

While the beaches in this area are pleasant to look at and have nice palm trees, visit them at your own risk. I had a great time in Itapua in 2008. It has changed A LOT since. Within the space of an hour, I saw a woman dancing like a stripper for a guy in front of her kid, got fleeced out of 50 reais, and saw a guy take out his manparts, urinate copiously, then proceed to massage his junk in front of dozens of people. We could not get out of there fast enough.

The Itapuã beach is famous because of a music, but the beach is not as beautiful as the music states. The sand has a strange color, the beach is full of rocks and the only thing nice is a walk to the lighthouse

I don´tt know why, but I am not a big fan of this beach. many many years ago it used to be a very nice place to go, there is even a song written by a famous Brazilian singer about its beauty. However, it beacame a dangerous place to go due to some robbers. Then it changed a little bit again and now you have guys playing soccer every weekend early in the morning and families walking around. There are also small nature swiming pools where kids can play safely from the waves, and you can walk on the big rocks around. Depending on the tide, the water might take the whole place and you may not be able to see any sand where you can walk... in the average, it is a nice view and that is all... :)

This place is not recommended for bathing or stayiing. Its actually even a bit dangerous, because little thieves and nasty people hangs around. Also the water isnt proper for bathing. Its a shame, thsi place was idyllic, many years ago.

The Itapuã beach is a small but charming beach. It a famous beach in the entire Brazil because of brazilian popular musics. Anyway, it is worth to be visited.

There are some cool beach bars along Itapua Beach just a short local bus ride from Mar Brasil Hotel where we were staying. The beach itself is beautiful.
