- Sent FBrecon, United Kingdom13 contributionsA marvellous and compact garden experienceA pocket battleship of a garden. Compact and interesting, with three folly buildings, including a water powered cuckoo clock. The wild meadow and the ponds are peaceful and calming. The cafe does struggle with queues, but the food is of good quality, especially the lovely and generously sliced fresh cakes. Quite accessible grounds - all on the flat. All in all a tribute to the dedication and vision of the owners and staff. V and RVisited May 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 18 May 2024

- RozBirmingham, United Kingdom50 contributionsFabulous cafeWe were on our journey home from Cardiganshire & stopped @ cafe on spec & couldn't have been more surprised at the little oasis we found. Only stopped for a late lunch, so just went to the cafe, but sat outside to have our lunch in an idyllic setting. Good quality home made food & drink. Best value had in a long while.Visited June 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 15 June 2024

Coffee is great too. All round a really enjoyable experience. Dogs are allowed on a lead.Visited July 2024Travelled soloWritten 13 July 2024
- KateExeter, United Kingdom8 contributionsA peaceful placeA wonderful find! Fascinating follies - the cuckoo clock is amazing and the owner so knowledgeable - to be discovered whilst wandering round the beautiful and tranquil gardens, where plants are allowed to grow and not be overly pruned or tidied. Lots of opportunities to sit and listen to the birds. The cafe is lovely - light lunches, cakes and drinks, with friendly and helpful staff. Well worth a trip out to visit this beautiful place and spend a few peaceful hours.Visited August 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 18 August 2024

'Wow'! This was the final gardens that we visited during a week exploring Shropshire and Herefordshire and I must say, we left the best until last.
This was a busy afternoon, the first Friday in July and I cannot give enough praise for the air of serendipity during our experience here.
The gardens are 3.5 acres of a creation, a dream like fulfilment of one man, who has now left his heart and soul in the hands of the new owners, a delightful couple whose promise is to continue this man's legacy.
It was a privilege to not only explore these beautiful gardens but to have the owners take time to share the creators ideology, but also their vision for developing their own ideas.
This peaceful place, this gentle flow of the whole spectrum of colours, a place that has stood the tests of time and hopefully will endure.
Quirky monuments, the water tower(a feat of engineering), the bird tower, gentle sounds of water flow, birds singing, glorious shrubs and trees, plants and flowers revealing their bounty- I just wanted a table for two in the middle just to sit and drink the finest glass of wine.
This was an ensemble of everything is the great about nature- fantastic visit!
And good luck to the new, beautiful people who now own this paradise- thank you.
Excellent little cafe too, with plenty of outside seating.

Exploring these delightful water gardens is a truly enchanting experience. Comprised of a series of charming pools set amid herbaceous plants, ferns, graceful weeping willows, and all manner of exotic greenery, it is an absolute gem in which to while away an hour or two. There are several quirky 'follies' to add interest, including an amazing hydraulic cuckoo clock, a water feature with gargoyles, and a dome constructed from rainbow-coloured bottles which glitters like a jewel box in the sunshine. Adjacent to the garden is the Mill Tearoom, serving wonderful homemade cream teas and lunches. We chose the cheese and broccoli quiche, which was genuinely one of the most delicious we have ever eaten: a generous and tasty wedge, with a warm and light filling, golden pastry crust, served with warm new potatoes, homemade coleslaw and a crisp salad. All absolutely fresh. The lemon drizzle cake topped with frosted lemon sugar was to die for. And my husband's bakewell tart with ice cream melted in the mouth. The proprietors of this wonderful little cafe are SO friendly and obliging. They deserve every success. We so much enjoyed our whole visit here. We cannot praise it enough. Hope to return

Visited the water gardens whilst on holiday.
Glass dome which is made with 1000's of different coloured wine bottles is tranquil when sat inside.
Had a most pleasant afternoon wandering around the garden which is looked after by one person so even more impressive!

If I could give this 10 I would. It is fabulous, a green oasis of lush planting. Yes the ponds were a bit green but this is probably a problem created by the water coming off over- nutrient rich farmland. The planting is luxuriant and as the day had been wet, rather redolent of a rain forest! The cuckoo clock is amazing - get there just before the hour to see and hear it and have a detailed explanation from the owner. There are other 'follies' including one with a wonderful gargoyle and an 'African' hut.
We didn't use the cafe but the cakes looked good and competitively priced, and the plants for sale were very reasonable.

I cant believe that I have lived near this little gem for 20 years and only now visited! The garden is sublime, full of wonderful trees and plants, and pathways leading to follies and quaint bridges. It isn't a huge garden, but is a magical spot with lots of benches to sit and contemplate the tranquil surroundings. I must recommend the tea rooms. The sandwiches were excellent, and there is a huge choice of delicious home made cakes all at very reasonable prices. Definitely worth a visit.

Spent a pleasant few hours here. It's not actually that large but very cleverly laid out to seem bigger than it is. There are of course the water features but the planting is well planned too, so the overall effect is really quite special. I was glad that we went. The cafe was nothing special, but good enough.

We visited on the opening day for 2022 and it was a lovely trip. It isn't a big place but we thought well worth it for the entry fee (£7pp). There are plenty of benches and places to sit and just relax in nature. The view and sounds of water throughout the garden is lovely. Things were just starting to grow and bloom as spring but I can just imagine it will be absolutely stunning in summer when everything is in flower. It was very quiet when we visited but actually made the trip more enjoyable as at times it was like we had the place to ourselves.
Have to recommend the cafe! The choice was good and very reasonably priced. The staff/owner were super friendly and helpful in helping us out with the menu and I can't praise the chocolate and biscuit tray bake enough. It was so good I went back for another slice to takeaway!!

We decided to visit after visiting nearby Hergest Croft and reading a leaflet about it.
Its the most stunning garden with so much to see in a relatively small space and so worth going around several times as theres so much attention to detail.
Its so relaxing and peaceful and extremely photogenic and well worth the entrance fee.It was brilliant that our dog was able to visit too and we can't wait to return in the summer to see the herbaceous plants and the rose arch in full bloom.

The positive reviews were what led us to select this for an afternoon out. We weren't disappointed. After a first-class sandwich (on lovely bread) and a pot of tea (with accompanyingredients bone china) at the cafe we set about exploring the grounds. The follies and the planting are eccentric but an absolute delight. Even in September there was much to see and I sense the previous owner had visited Africa as there were features here and there that transported me back to my pre-Covid travelling days. We look forward to returning in spring.

A beautiful garden. It may not be the biggest in the country but it has a lot packed in it! Plenty of inspiration for those of us who do not have a stately home sized plot. The atmosphere is really relaxing, so take your time and soak in every carefully created vista. There are lots of benches where you can stop and admire the garden. Plus loads of interesting and unusual plants, shrubs and trees. Unique follies too!
We met one of the new owners, who had only been there for six weeks. Already they are putting in significant effort to give the garden a new lease of life and develop it further. Truly a labour of love.
I should also mention that lunch was excellent, reasonably priced and the staff lovely . We will be back, earlier in the year next time, as I am sure the garden will look different again then.

I think the answer is yes because there was a dog there but to avoid disappointment contact them directly.
