We are a family of five and did the Victoria's Secret treasure hunt in Tomaj. It was a great experience and also suitable for our kids aged 9, 11 and 13. We had a lot of fun and can recommend this to other families visiting the Karst region!

The "Escape from Gmajna" escape room is an exceptional and exhilarating experience that I highly recommend to all puzzle and challenge enthusiasts. The room is thoughtfully designed, full of secrets and details that will immerse you in an exciting adventure. First and foremost, I want to highlight the excellent set design that authentically recreates a meadow. Every detail is meticulously crafted, creating a realistic atmosphere that allows you to fully engage in the role. The room is also technologically advanced, with numerous interactive elements that will surprise you and involve you in solving the puzzles. The puzzle tasks are diverse, innovative, and well-balanced in terms of difficulty. You'll need to combine different skills such as logic, observation, teamwork, and thinking outside the box. The puzzles are challenging but not insurmountable, providing a satisfying experience as you solve them. I'm also pleasantly surprised by the friendliness and expertise of the staff. If you find yourself in trouble or need a hint, they will be happy to assist you without revealing too many details and spoiling the experience. The "Escape from Gmajna" escape room is undoubtedly one of the best escape rooms I have had the opportunity to visit. I'm confident it will provide unforgettable moments of fun and challenge for both experienced players and those encountering escape rooms for the first time. Whether you're a puzzle enthusiast or simply looking to spend quality time with friends or family, I highly recommend visiting this exceptional escape room.

We are a family of four and we love escape rooms. This time we headed to the Karst region and tried something different: a treasure hunt. In the magical village of Štanjel, we were "chasing" the black cat. The kids had a great time, but I must emphasize that the game requires adults and should not be underestimated! I've been to this Karst village before, even on a business trip where we hired a local guide, but I had never heard such REAL stories about Štanjel. I highly recommend it! The lady who led the game was friendly and extremely perceptive. We don't like hints that are too direct! We prefer to solve puzzles and riddles ourselves, which is why we were thrilled with her guidance: she wasn't our 6th player, she was just providing hints. That's exactly what we needed! I also liked it when she explained the main rule right at the beginning: the goal is not just to find the treasure, but to cooperate and connect. We achieved that, and after the game, we leisurely visited two more locations we discovered during the "hunt." We will definitely come back for Karra's other games! Thank you, Karra. The best detective experience so far. ;)

Hello, i have been in Tomaj for the outside escaperoom. I really did not like how the lady on the phone was constantly checking on us where are we. We should have had time to talk between us, the players. We are talkin minutes here. The phone rang for sure more than 10 times during our visit. Unfortunatly we also did not finish in time which ok, it is our foult. We were with kids to which we explained we are on a treasure hunt or some sort of other surprise - i do not remember exactly and since we did not finish timely, the lady came, took the i pad and asked how it was. We explained our troubles. It fell on deaf ears. We were told we are just not good enough. We left with a real nasty feeling of why did we even bother to come. Oh, and the treasure, no sign of it. As if it is a penalty. This is not a sport with winners but family time. The most important thing should be having a nice day with maybe a little surprise at the end even without completing in time. We are (were) afterall your paying costumers by word of which your adventure business grows.

Dear Gregor, we are sorry that you had such an unpleasant experience in Štanjel (not in Tomaj!). Apparently you chose an absolutely inappropriate activity for your family. May we help you understand this issue? First, let's address the four inconsistencies that immediately caught our attention. You willingly chose: - a game in Štanjel and not in Tomaj (we are surprised that even after the game, you still don't know this?!) - a treasure hunt and not an escape room. - a game suitable for adults (although children can participate, it is not designed specifically for them). - a treasure hunt, which requires time and effort, rather than a leisurely stroll (which is recommended after the game is completed). But let's start from the beginning. We certainly didn't "bother" you ten times over the phone. However, the game master called you several times because you didn't respect the rules she gave you at the beginning. She also called you multiple times because you were lagging behind the average time of other players by more than 40 minutes. She offered you assistance and hints because it is in Karra's interest for the treasure hunters to find the treasure, if possible. She explained to you before the start of the game that it would unfold in this way, and you agreed to it. By the way, we have players who are not even called by the game master because they are so good that it's not necessary. If we understand you correctly, you expected unlimited duration in a game that is limited to 90 minutes? You also expected a "consolation prize" for not being able to find the treasure (despite numerous hints from the game master)? And you expected children's entertainment in a game that is explicitly declared as a thought-provoking, fun detective game for adults? Dear Gregor, we did not offer or charge for any of these expectations anywhere. Before the start of the game, the game master clearly told you that not all teams would find the treasure and that the true treasure lies in enjoying the game and connecting with your team members. It seems that you failed at both, yet you still expected to find the treasure? Gregor, we really don't know what game you embarked on, and we're sorry that your children were disappointed due to your incorrect briefing, not ours. And one more thing about your last observation: if our sole purpose was profit, we wouldn't have invested two years in researching materials, preparing this game, acquiring equipment, paying monthly rent, and covering other expenses, just to be €90 - 22% VAT (€82.19) richer after investing 2.5 hours of our time to run your game (that's how much the entire preparation and execution of the game cost us). Dear Gregor, please think before you criticize. Especially, make sure to inquire about what you're purchasing. We don't offer lunches for those who don't find the treasure. We do expect (and fortunately, only VERY few guests like yourself fail to understand this) that our guests will discover the treasure through mutual socializing while immersed in the thrilling, original story of the Black Cat in Štanjel, uncover the grandeur of Štanjel and Max Fabiani, and take their time after the hunt for a leisurely stroll and enjoyment of this magical, stunning Karst village. In all of our activities, at Karra, we genuinely strive for an original and personal experience. We hope that such criticism will not deter those guests whom we truly aim to address. Have a good day The Karra Team

Hello!
The escape from forest in Tomaj is our worse experience when the word applies to escaperooms. Mrs Vojka pressed us to hurry up, her attitude was quite cold, sometimes even sarcastic. At the end we didn't get explanation for things we haven't understood (in all other escaperooms elsewhere that was not a problem). Things in forestescape are on my opinion not so good connected or logic, so sometimes you don't even know what to do next. There are no available toiletes, they suggest you to go in nature. We couldn'd pay extra for additional player (elsewhere there is this posibility). I absolutely don' recommend it!

Dear Ms Simona, we are sorry to read about your disappointment. Let's address your concerns: You yourself chose the outdoor escape room, i.e. an "outdoor" activity in the middle of nature, which belongs to Natura 2000. Your expectation to find a toilet in the woods is not related to any of our promises and nobody except you had ever expected it. It is not true that our game master directed you to do your "need" in nature. Your friends and teammates referred you to this, who explicitly told you to make it simple, because you are in the middle of nature. Before purchasing the game, you were clearly aware that the game is meant for a maximum of 5 players. You were also warned about this in the pre-game emails. Yet you arrived in a group of 6 and expected us to change the rules especially for you. Not allowing more than 5 people to play Escape from Gmajna has its own meaning: the game becomes uninteresting if too many players play it at the same time. The individual does not follow the puzzles and the team falls apart. We intentionally do not wish this to our players, we prefer to give up additional earnings. You agreed to these rules when you reserved the game. So why did you book a game which doesn't allow for the number of players you envisioned? Were you already planning to blackmail us? Did you expect us to be very emphatic with you in this case ? It would not be fair to guests who respect the rules. In your review you didn't mention that the game master gave you two overtimes and several hints, thus allowing you to find a way out of the room. To the majority of players it is obvious that towards the end of overtime, the game master would encourage you to hurry up, as she wanted you to finish the game successfully. She had told you in the introduction before the game that she would inform you about the remaining time of the game towards the end of the game, just like we tell each team. What you characterized as "mockery" was the game manager's response when you repeatedly asked her to explicitly solve the tasks that you failed. She explained to you that she was not your fifth or sixth member of the team. Game masters in Karra give hints (your team has received many), but they do not solve tasks for players. The politics of leading the games in other escape rooms is a matter of decision of their owners and not of the players. Regarding the "illogicality of the game": have you perhaps considered that the game would seem more logical to you if you personally cooperated with the team instead of being the only one spoiling the team's mood all the time? Our game Escape from gmajna is an extremely popular game. The vast majority of guests not only find it "logical", they are enthusiastic about it. However, it is true that not everything is for everyone. Best regards

We booked Black Cat in Štanjel, one of the most beautiful cities in Slovenia. It is true, we were a few minutes late (because of searching for a parking ticket), but our experience of this treasure hunt was really like a racing game. We wanted to enjoy beautiful views in the city, but the game is on time and every few minutes we were suppose to call the game master to inform them what are we doing. The riddles were not clear, we experienced almost all escape rooms in Slovenia and a few of them in other countries, but this was our worst experience. One hour and a half, all the time in the hurry, I was totally nervous because I had to read a lot of pages, also the read-device broke down once and because if I didn't call the game master, they called us and they were angry because they didn't know what are we doing in the moment. We didn't manage to solve the last puzzle, because time ran out. So, we didn't get the treause... our two children were dissapointed. After so many escaperooms, they said: We don't want to go to any other escaperoom. We are all dissapointed. It was a birthday gift from my mother, because she knew we all love Štanjel. Really bad experience.

Dear Ms Saksida, thank you very much for your very interesting and instructive comment. We are very sorry about you. As customer satisfaction is our top priority, we are happy to clarify your apparent concerns. »The worse escaperoom experience« You were playing the Black Cat in Štanjel which is a Treasure Hunt, not an Escape Room. Or did you read something else on our website? "we were a few minutes late (because of searching for a parking ticket)" We care a lot about the well-being of our guests, so we carefully prepare you in advance for your best Karst experience. Our plays are designed within precise time slots for each play and each group. After booking the play 2 months in advance you received our 2 e-mails, the last 24 hours before your play, with very precise details and instructions, recommendations about the parking, our meeting point and the timing of the event included. Do we correctly understand your suggestion that we should delay the next group because you were not arriving to Štanjel in a timely manner needed to manage the parking procedure (either by buying a parking ticket or using the EasyPark App)? How would you feel in this case? "our experience of this treasure hunt was really like a racing game." You booked a Treasure Hunt, a play which, by definition, is a dynamic group play, meant for people who, as a team, enjoy solving puzzles and riddles in a defined time. Did you find a different description on our website? "We wanted to enjoy beautiful views in the city, but the game is on time and every few minutes we were suppose to call the game master to inform them what are we doing." Treasure hunts are supervised plays. The game master needs to be always aware about the dynamic of the game and able to help you to a certain extend if needed. As also our game masters are not clairvoyants, we have no other choice as other non-app based outdoor gamification events and use cell phones or walkie talkies. After the play you are free to return to your most admired places and people in the village which/who you had discovered during the play. Everything at your own pace. "The riddles were not clear, we experienced almost all escape rooms in Slovenia and a few of them in other countries, but this was our worst experience." You played a Treasure Hunt not an Escape Room, thus you may agree that the comparison is somehow inappropriate. Karra's play are carefully designed and tested gamification experiences. Most of our extremely satisfied guests finish them within the defined time, some of them even earlier and some of them not at all. You didn't find the treasure despite an additional bonus of 15 minutes. With the regular 90 minutes minus 5 minutes for you being late, this made 100 minutes of play time. Was there an issue with the Slovene language? "One hour and a half, all the time in the hurry, I was totally nervous because I had to read a lot of pages" Treasure Hunt lovers are looking forward to solving complex tasks in the shortest possible time. They feel the anticipated higher adrenalin levels not the nervousness. "the read-device broke down once and because if I didn't call the game master, they called us and they were angry because they didn't know what are we doing in the moment." The electronic reader »froze« because of your hasty manipulation with it. During the pre-game introduction we carefully explained and demonstrated to you the handling of the device, the warning about the results of a hasty manipulation included. As always, we benevolently credited you with the time needed for the reset of the device. Do you in general feel that people are »angry« when they need to be and are concerned about your well-being? "We didn't manage to solve the last puzzle, because time ran out." We fear that this is a misunderstanding on your side. After the previously mentioned given time bonus the game master had to stop the play. At this time you were in the last cycle of the game but certainly not at the last puzzle. There were at least 6 left to be solved. In the best case you would need another 20 minutes to finish the game. »...our two children were dissapointed. After so many escaperooms, they said: We don't want to go to any other escaperoom. We are all dissapointed.« Well, at the end your children told our game master that the play was excellent and that they enjoyed it. Not finishing a Treasure Hunt is a realistic possibility. Even the police don’t solve all the crimes. We mentioned this to you during the pre-game introduction, on our website and in our Terms and Conditions. It is also clearly stated that Karra' plays are designed for adults. You may decide to add children to the group on your own and brief and prepare them accordingly. Have you already considered the later reaction of your kids as actually feeling sorrow for their beloved mother's unjustified and uncontained negative reaction to an event that they had briefly described to our game master as nice? To wrap up: Before every play all our game masters explain to our guests that the main goal of the play is to enjoy and bond as a team. Finding the treasure is of secondary importance. Most of our guests manage to achieve both. Unfortunately, you didn't manage neither of them. This confirms the fact that not everything is for everyone. Since you have so unfairly dissected and fabricated a bunch of facts, please allow us to rate you as a guest. At Karra, we are used that guests who are late apologize. Usually, they also say goodbye when they leave. Here, as a mother, you can learn a lot from your kids: they kindly said goodbye, as you simply stormed off while delivering a bunch of insults. Anyway, it's not our job to raise you. Karra hopes that you and all who read this feel better now. Best regards The Karra Team

Escape from Gmajna is an interesting way to spend a little time in wonderful nature in Tomaj. If you need a reason to spend time outdoors, this escape is a great one.
It can be fun for families, friends, co-workers or even for dates - you get to know how other people think, so you can learn a lot about others and yourself. But bottom line is, that it is very fun!

Escape from Gmajna was great. We especially appreciated that everything seemed well connected to a nice little story of a local and everything seemed to 'make sense', there were not too many distractions and the clues were imaginative and crafted very nicely. Our teens could take part very well and we all had lots of fun, even in on a fairly grey day - nobody minded the weather because we were so involved.
