Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We went on a private tour with @iwantourguide to see Green Canyon and Valley, which included a tour of a small village. We learned a lot about local culture, plants and animals, Iwan is a knowledgeable guide with great English (and pretty good Dutch!) language skills. We had a lot of fun with him, would highly recommend. Chauffeur Jani made us feel very safe in the crowded Indonesian roads. The sights are amazing, the pictures don't even do it justice.

When we first started sailing up the canyon I was NOT impressed, it was a river flanked by tress - so what.
But as we got further up the canyon it go more and more beautiful with the walls closing in on the river.
We were visiting at lower water, so we could only sail so far and had to swim and crawl the last part. To swim/crawl the last part you have to be a strong swimminger and willing to climb a little over rocks.
But it is definitely worth the time and effort.
Bring a dry-bag and a camera/phone that is okay with getting a little wet.

In Pangandaran, West Java - Indonesia, there is a beautiful-must-visit place named Cijulang River which has clean green water flows between the huge wall of hill. That's called GREEN CANYON..
It serves never been forgotten experience to all visitors who come there by renting traditional boat or the challenging of body rafting.. We can enjoy the amazing natural rock wall completely with the sound of river and birds tweet. Our eyes can get the fresh look with the green water and plants surrounding.
The guides will give any help friendly and patiently. It must be visited by anyone who love nature..

We went here on October 14, 2013. We were lucky that the last rain was on October 12, so the water was clear (not as clear as when it was no rain for weeks, though). From Pangandaran, it took us about 80 minutes in the car (there were road works in some part of the road and it slowed us down). We arrived at the boat station, and our driver bought the tickets for us. The boat for maximum 5 passengers was Rp.125,000 return (about 20 minutes to the cave, and 20 minutes back), if we want to swim around the area beyond the cave, the charges was Rp.50,000/30 minutes. We swam and enjoyed the beautiful scenery. We passed a big stone like an umbrella, where people climb over and jumped to river from 5 - 6 meters high. We continued our swim against the river flow, to water spring called "mata air Puteri (Princess Spring", we need to climb the wall to arrive to the spring (about 2 meters high). My partner and I were waiting in the water, while my son who was accompanied by our guide climbed to Mata Air Puteri. The local believe that one can keep his/her youth if they wash in that spring.

If you are interested in visiting Green Canyon, you can contact our driver who knows a lot about the areas (Green Canyon, Pantai Karas, Batu Hiu, Pantai Nini, Pemandian 7 Mata Air, Goa Rengganis, Goa Parat, Pantai Pasir Putih, Batu Layar, Batu Buaya, dll).

Very glad we chose to do a whole day tour to both locations as would have been dissapointed if we went just to Green Canyon.

Booked with our house (250RPH) and as we were only four we were on motorbikes. Although the roads are bumpy it was a lot of fun to do the tour this way, all the locals are very friendly and always looking for a wave!

Saw local working villages making brown sugar, the puppets etc, walked around to see their way of life. Spent the morning at Green Valley, locked up our gear and went swimming for about 2hours. Cliff jumping, swings, rapids. It was great fun and the guide Wawan swam with waterproof bag to take photos at every opportunity! We got there first so had the whole river to ourselves, making our way slowly down. He says at the weekends it gets very busy.

Paid for lunch (25RPH each) was a delicious buffet of tofu, tempe, chicken etc then on our way to Green Canyon. We took a boat up the Canyon for maybe 30mins, roof overhead prevents you from seeing the scale of things. Parked up where we climbed up to some rocks & that is where the natural pool is where you can swim. We had spent the whole morning swimming so did not want to pay extra to swim here (I think 100 RPH per group) so stood there for about 15mins, you cannot see around the corner of the rocks so not much to look at!

Concluded the tour by going over the Bamboo bridge and seeing the Turtle sanctuary. All in all great tour & guide! We met someone who tried to find the Valley & Canyon on his own but got lost & saw nothing. It's a very windy road & lots of turn offs with no signs so I think you need a guide to get the full experience out of the area!

Do the Canyon if it is included but Green Valley was the Highlight 5 out of 5 for this activity!!

Got train from Jakarta to Bandung, taxi to bus station and 7 hour bus to Pangandaran to do this. Did the Green Valley first with excellent guide who took photos and held my camera above the water for an hour. We glided and jumped off ledges while he snapped and took video! He then lodged the camera in the rocks before delighting us and a school group by climbing a rope ladder, tightrope walked out to bending branches and dived in, dried his hands, grabbed my camera and we carried on. Brilliant, peaceful at times, beautiful. There are cubicles to dry and change at the end and lots of places to eat. We carried on to Green Canyon which was beautiful and also well worth the trip in the boat, but rain had muddied the water so we just looked at the tiny crabs, massive lizards and beautiful scenery and sat under the waterfall for a while. You can easily do both in a day whether tour, private car or moped.

If you do this trip from Pandangeran there is no need to take a local guide. Just get your driver to take you there and book the boat yourself. The price in August 2015 was 175 Rp for the boat with up to 5 people. With the ticket you receive a number that they call out in Indonesian when it is time for you to board. They take you up the river to a kind of cave where the boats can't continue. There you get off and can go for a swim. They work on a schedule so if you want to stay for more than 15 minutes they will charge you 100rp extra. If you do take the time you can swim up the canyon a ways and there is a stone that you can jump off (~3m high). If you want to stay only the 15 minutes (more than enough for a swim and a few pics) then just make sure to demonstratively check you watch when getting off and confirm "15 minutes right?" with the boat guy so that he knows you checked and won't try to trick you.

I had a bad experience with this place. I drove my motorbike all the way out there and expected a lush scenery and a place to dip in the water on a hot day. It's a crazy amount of locals there when I arrive and queues all over the place. I see a Padang/Warung with a buffet table and it's packed with indonesians. I'm starving and the food looks good. I stand in mine, plate in hand and look at the nice fish on the table when suddenly a woman says I'm not alllowed to eat from the buffet. She brought me a tourist menu and looked outragedmthat I would even think of eating with the immortals. This was beyond rude. Racist. Further down the road it's only queues. I'd like to add that the water looked dirty and was not moving. I turned around, pissed off. Only go here when Pangandaran is NOT visited by locals.

we hired the travel organizer named "Aca Ucu Trip" to planned this trip, we arrived in the morning, and we started the body-rafting adventure at 9.00am. The guide companion and rafting equipment was supported by Guha Bau Body Rafting (I attached the website on this review). The body-rafting adventure will spend (approximately) 4-5 hours. The perfect time to go there is the summer time, no rain at all and you will see the green to blue water but if you go there during the rainy season the water will turned into a dark brown which is it's not really beautiful to enjoy, make sure you bring your professional sport camera and of course it must be water-resistant, because there is so much exotic angles to captured that might be you don't wanna missed.
