About
Meet Ioannis Capodistrias, the first Governor of Greece, at his family country house in central Corfu, a declared National Heritage Monument. The house-museum follows Capodistrias' life path from his youth in Corfu to his esteemed career as a diplomat in Europe, through to the creation of modern Greece and his assassination in 1831, as an acting Governor. A visit at the Capodistrias Museum is much more than the just an exhibition! You can explore here its amazing historic garden, with characteristic Mediterrenean flora and spectacular views over Corfu and the Ionian sea, and enjoy local refreshments and snacks at its picturesque Garden Cafe. A small museum, a great story . . .

A small and super modern museum. Located on a hill overlooking the city of Corfu in a big garden.
It is in the family estate of the family of the first governor of Greece, Ioannis Kapodistrias, turned to a museum.
Modern tools and app to learn about the life and the work of the governor.
Very helpful personnel to assist with the tour and the apps.

The Museum Capodistrias is the reason that you have visit the Coucouritsa region of Corfu. It's situated at Capodistrias family's house and travel us magically in his era. The gravures portraits, documents and the personal items of the first governor of Greece Comte Capodistrias revive the historical puzzle of his life in Corfu,Genova, and Russia in the early 19 c. The garden is a wonderful place to walk, and drink your coffee. The museum is open the Spring and Summer every year. I hope you enjoy every magical moment in this special place.

I took my aunt to see the museum, she grew up in Corfu and had fond memories. The visit more than justified my choice. The museum is not too big, but beautifully curated. Apart from the historical information it carries the feeling of an old, stately house, very atmospheric. The staff are very welcoming.
It was a beautiful day so we were able to enjoy a homemade lemonade in the museum's garden with its stunning views.
Just before leaving we paid a quick visit to the museum shop for a few beautiful mementos to take back home.
I would strongly urge visitors of the island to make time to visit this singularly attractive site.

The museum is located on a hill around 20-minute drive from the centre of Corfu. The museum is very well organized in a way that it walks you through the life of Ioannis Capodistrias, including his family and career. The audio guide is entretaining and informative and the staff very friendly! I highly recommend catching a bite or having a drink at the cafe located in the Museum's gardens. The gardens are absolutely magical and the food delicious!

We visited the Museum in early June, the museum cafe had just opened and it was early morning. We spend two and a half hours in the Museum with the audio guide (background music was a real plus) before taking a walk in the grounds. The writer Emannouil Theotoki who is quoted in the last room (Koukouritsa), was right, the immaculate shade of the grand pine trees makes for a trip that gives quality and credence to this Monticello in an Ionian scale. Well worth a visit

The museum is the house of the national poet of Greece Dionisios Solomos. There you can see his book collection, some of his drafts and letters he send to his loved ones, and the desk on which he was writing... The view from the window explains his inspiration... The ticket costs only 1euro
