When driving from Germany into Denmark you might be intrigued by a sign on the highway. We were puzzled by this Unesco heritage sign and decided to get off the highway. A couple of kilometers/miles later we discovered a village center that is intriguing (yes)...More

The town Christiansfeld is a very well maintained Unesco culture rewarded place to visit. The Hernhutter way of building and organising a community is very visible, and they have experienced and well informed guides to show you it all. Notice the church, the women's house...More

We found Christiansfeld because of its WHS status. It's a lovely and quaint place that makes for a nice walk. The history behind the town is very interesting and it was surprising to trace it all back to Moravian protestant settlers.

I cannot recommend this enough. The small community of Danish 'Cathars' has a very exiting story to tell, and tell it well. The community houses are in excellent shape and the guides are very informative -and don’t fall for the opportunity to preach the good...More

A beautifully well preserved place which retraces the history of the Moravian settlers and how they built the town. The museum was interesting with genuinely passionate staff and walking around the pkace brought it to life; the streets, the church, the cemetery... definitely worth it's...More

A friend of us recommended this place, supposedly founded by Dutch settlers, but we understood that the Danish supporters of the founders of Christiansfeld settlement were inspired by the lay out of the Dutch city of Zeist, also built by followers of the Moravian Church....More

On the way back from billund going south, there was a giant sign saying Christiansfeld and Unesco. Granted there was not much planned for the day and then I had no idea what I was about to witness. A main stretch of perfectly preserved lutheran...More

The building houses the tourist agency, a small shop and an exhibition about Christiansfeld. The tourist agency was very helpful and the shop sells some nice arts and crafts. There is a very pretty fountain in the little courtyard behind the building.

This town is on the Unesco World Heritage list, but to be honest I did not find it amazing like I often do with other attractions on that list. True, the buildings are well maintained and quite nice, but the wow factor is definitely missing....More
